AFFORDABLE CUSTOM DECKS & FENCE

I was supposed to pay a third down, a third half way, and a third when it was finished. I paid my third down and he started the work. I told them I wanted the fence exactly where it was currently at, 3 ft from the easement to the sewer. While they were installing, he would keep asking for more money because certain things were not included but necessary. I always had him add it to the bill. While they were putting the fence up, I noticed that while they were hammering the planks up, the fence was shaking. I didn't think it should shake like that, and they explained it was because of the concrete was not quite set. We had the trustees of the subdivision come and check it out, and they noticed the posts were not secure. We let Affordable Custom Decks and Fence know that the posts were not secure, as well as the gate by the laundry room would not close or latch. The hardware was on the wrong side. He came out and nailed another 2x4 onto the fence to make it close, but they discovered it was because of the location of the post. We then began to inspect the entire fence. The cedar slats were unevenly placed, so they toe nailed posts, and so there was no support. Posts were not straight. 2x4s were warped. The scalloping on the top varied and had no consistency. Nails were sticking out of slats because the nails were too long. Gate was incorrectly installed. We randomly selected 7 posts out of many, and dug down 18 inches and only one had concrete on one side of it, with a dry mix that had not set up. Old fence posts were broken off and partial posts were left in the ground. Clean up was very poor. Substandard materials and workmanship. I informed the BBB and the state attorney general. The BBB was unable to locate him.

I paid a 900 dollar deposit and the company never performed the work.
