All the Above (ATA) Construction

Brian Baker of ATA Construction company attempted to repair my Missouri home beginning in July 2012, water damaged by a leaking pipe. ATA Construction (Baker) was hired by my property manager to assess and initiate repairs. When Baker was receiving money from me for those repairs, I received calls frequently to give a status as I lived in Iowa at the time (...and I still do). As the work progressed and the payments continued - I was kept appraised of repairs. When I sent the final check for all repairs (Sept/Oct 2012), which weren't yet totally complete, Baker said he would complete them "soon". Virtually all communication stopped when the final check was sent and I was promised seven (yes seven) times by Baker that he would repair woodpecker holes in several locations around the upper portion my home - he was contracted by me to perform this repair. Unfortunately I had already paid him for the entire job - a BIG mistake!! After the seventh promise, I finally took the hint and fired him - of course he had all my money by then and was no longer interested in doing what he was originally contracted to do. When I was able to finally to come down to Missouri and inspect his work, I was appalled as this is what I found: 1. The carpet remnants he used for a downstairs bedroom contained the same type of carpet but was from two DIFFERENT lots as the join line is plainly visible. 2. The floor by the upstairs porch entrance/exit bounces as he did not install the proper sub floor and the cheap laminate he used to cover up this bouncy floor was not even tongue and groove - he had to cut off the tongue portions of the laminate to make it fit. Therefore there are actually two "bouncy" floor parts. 3. There are noticeable gaps in the upstairs kitchen cabinetry as he did not properly level the first one before installing the rest. 4. He did not remove the old kitchen countertops and left them in the garage. 5. He took weeks to rehang the bedroom doors even though the house was occupied at the time. 6. He lost one of the flourescent light fixtures in the office - it was never replaced even though he called and verified he had it. 7. The lights in that office no longer worked as he did not hook up the the lights properly. I had to hire other contractors to fix what Baker did not do at (you guessed it) additional expense. Baker's repeated response to any of my queries (after he was fully paid) about completing his so called job was "I'll get right on that after.......... - in other words I heard excuse after excuse after excuse until I finally fired him. Hire him at your own risk.
