The concrete that was replaced looks great. Bill is a very nice person and is willing to do a great job. They only cleaned up partially after the job. The house was damaged during the destruction of the old concrete. The repair done to the house was subpar, and now I will have to hire someone to do it right.

I saw more work in those two days than I had seen from the former contractor in two weeks. BJ did what they said they would do in a very timely fashion. I am pleased with BJ's and would hire again because fo their dependability and how they get the work done. We were in a dilemma and they helped get us out of it.

The completed job was acceptable. It took him longer to do the job then he estimated due to problems with his equipment. I would use Bill again. He bid the job one day and started the job the next day.

Everyone else I called was afraid of the job, because it required some real thinking on how to get it done. Bill was the only guy who wasn't wanted to try to help me. He told me he could promise any results, but he would give it his best shot. His best shot was plenty good enough. He got it done very nicely.

The crew arrived promptly and were friendly and hard working.  They did a fine job on the sidewalks (they ran into a mighty length of tree root)  and removed the (surprisingly thick) concrete paths in the backyard, which required pick and shovel labor as there was no way to get machinery into the yard. The only negative is that their equipment left noticeable oil  residue on the street.  This will surely go away before long, but for the time being it looks rather messy.

They were on time and punctual. They had a very friendly staff.

Bill and his team are fantastic. Bill keeps the property owner up to date on everything. The weather has been so rainy recently and Bill was committed to getting the project done within a week of our estimate. The amazing part is the fact that Bill came out on Saturday (his birthday) to finish the project. Bill was prompt in giving us our estimate and did the work for a very fair price. Bill and his team are hard-working and detail-oriented. The new steps on the porch were constructed with safety in mind for my 76 year old mother. We will be contacting Bill in the near future for additional concrete work.

Bill made an appointment to give me a bid, and showed up exactly on time. He was knowledgeable, courteous and highly professional. He was given the unenviable task of finishing some work started by another contractor and abandoned. He completed every part of the job exactly as promised, if not better than promised. He really rescued the whole project. I will never call another concrete man as long as he is around. Highly recommend.

We left home about 9:00 Tuesday morning and returned at 12:30 p.m. By the time we arrived home, the driveway and sidewalk and steps had been removed, the areas leveled and forms were being placed for the concrete. All work including pouring of concrete and smoothing were completed in one day. The driveway and sidewalk were done just as promised and look great. The yard was cleaned up and all materials removed at the end of work. The only "complaint" we could make was the trampling of some of our plants, but that couldn't be helped. We thought the price was quite reasonable and enjoyed working with Mr. James and his crew.

I am very happy that I chose BJ's Concrete Construction. Bill James is a good man and strikes me as an honest businessman. He gave me a fair price and he did not try and negotiate the price upwards after the job was done. His crew was also a good group of people, who talked with me and made sure I was happy with things as they progressed. They showed-up on time, did the job just as we agreed to (I made sure to specify exactly what I wanted in the job), and cleaned up afterwards.

The reason I gave a B for quality is actually fairly trivial. The final step, after placing and finishing the concrete, is to apply a curing compound. This is a relatively minor part of the job. Since it was a garage floor, and hence limited access once it is finished, the crew ended up missing some parts of the floor with the compound. When the concrete started to cure this stood out. I called Bill the next day and he sent someone over about an hour later to fix it. So his response was great.

The price I got from BJ's Concrete Construction was comparable to one other bid that I got, and much lower than one other. So his price seemed very competitive to me.

I have had two concrete contractors do work at my house. One replaced the entire driveway a few years ago, and now BJ's Concrete Construction did the garage floor. If I had to do over again I would hire BJ's Concrete Construction to do both jobs. They were significantly better than the company that did the driveway.
