George Seacord

Description of Work: We hired George Seacord to remodel a bathroom in our home, install new windows and several general carpentry tasks. The quote he provided for the work was good and his price overall was fair. However, the work that he performed was sub-par. There was a weight bearing wall that he modified and it clearly wasn't structurally sound and he only changed it when I pointed it out (this is not something that the average consumer should be expected to do when working with a general contractor). The finish work for the bathroom was also poor with loose pipes in the walls, wood trim with saw blade marks in it, unfilled nail holes and a wall that wasn't squared (which is quite obvious now because it has a corner sink). Furthermore, when I attempted to contact him to ask about some of my concerns he was very abrasive over the phone and unprofessional. I hired Mr Seacord in the beginning of July and he agreed to have all of the work done outlined in our contract by the end of October. That's 4 months to complete a relatively small project. He didn't finish until the middle of December and that's only because I put strong pressure on him to get done so that we could have other subcontractors complete their work. He was very untimely with completion of work. It's only fair that I should mention that he was responsive in adding several smaller tasks to the scope of work --these took a half day on two different occasions. His price was also reasonable. However, I wish I would hired a different contractor for more timely and better quality work.
