+ 2 moreHe told me all the chimneys needed new liners, because they were a fire danger in their current condition. I paid thousands of dollars to have this project completed. We are now 2 years later...he has canceled and rescheduled so many times I can't even count. The job is still not complete. He told me it was finished and I paid him thousands more. He then left and we tried to start a fire a few days later and smoke poured into our house ruining the walls and furniture in that area. I contacted him immediately and told him.. he then said it was a problem with the cap at the top of our chimney and would replace that to fix the smoke problem. We did not have smoke problems before he worked on our chimneys and now have 2 chimneys that do NOT work and pour smoke into our home. He will not return my phone calls or texts. I gave them many chances to fix their work and the problems before writing this review. DO NOT hire Jason Phelps and/or Custom Masonry.
Description of Work: I wanted multiple chimneys cleaned and ready for gas logs in my home.

+ -1 moreJason was to clean our chimney through a Groupon deal for $79. He came out the first time in August and did a visual inspection from inside the house. He said he would have to come back with different equipment to do the job. An appointment was scheduled which he did not keep and was a no show and no call. I made several other phone calls, some of which were returned and some were not. The other appointments which were made with Jason were not kept. I got the feeling he did not want to do the job and was just didn't want to say so. After the final appointment was canceled on October the 12th, as he said it looked like rain and he did not want to install our chimney cover, an additional item he was to install at the time of the cleaning, as the silicone would do well in rain until it was cured. He would call the next week for a new time to come out. I never did receive the phone call.. I final contacted Groupon in October for a refund for the service that was never completed.
Description of Work: Jason was to clean our chimney as a result of a purchase from Groupon. The service was never performed.

Description of Work: We are writing this review so no one else will be duped as we were by Jason Phelps, who represented himself as a professional person who could fix our chimney. We originally bought his services through Groupon to just clean out our chimney before the cold weather hit. When he finally made an appearance, after several phone calls on my part, he told me our chimney was in horrible shape and needed all sorts of things done to it before we could use it again. He said we had suffered many chimney fires - of course we weren't aware of any fires, but he was convincing, even using an expensive camera to look up our chimney to show me of the many cracks. Anyway, he emailed me an estimate to fix it. Meantime, I contacted our insurance company and was able to obtain payment from them since most of it was covered by insurance. To make a long story short, he finally came out two months later after initially contacting him in May, and supposedly "fixed" the fireplace for $1635.00. He then told me he was finished, so I paid him, but then on his way out the door, he told me he would be back in two days to check the mortar on the outside clean-out box he made in our chimney. He even left some of his material, so I expected him to be back. He never came back nor would he respond to any of my phone calls. It is now October and we called a local chimney expert to check our fireplace to make sure it is safe to use as we don't trust the work that Jason Phelps performed. Today I was told that he didn't do even half of what he said he would do in the estimate, and that our chimney is not cracked. In fact this man told me it is in good shape for as old as it is! Also, Jason said he put a "cap" on it, but there was no such cap in evidence! I hate to write this kind of review, but I have documented trying to obtain the service I paid for and Jason Phelps did not deliver!
