We are happy with patio. They proposed the design and the finished product matched the design. We are very happy with the finished product. There were some weather related delays in getting the patio finished.

Ron Sansone Construction Inc. is the worst contractor I've ever dealt with in my entire life. The owner is the most argumentative contractor I've ever dealt with. He brought to the job site way too much drama and has an excuse for everything. Most importantly to me, he is not a man of his word. I regret hiring him everyday.
The job was quoted as a 4 week job, and we had two extensive conversations of what we expected and how we wanted the wall and patio to look, however that?s not what we got. First off the timeline was not kept. The job took 12 weeks. Ron blamed the rain. We had 11 days of rain in the 12 weeks. He told me 2 crews would work the job. Only 1 crew worked the job. Work days the guys showed up between 8:30-9 am and left by 3:30pm with a 1 hour lunch. That?s ? work day. So he missed the timeline by 29 days. The crew had 1 experienced man and two inexperienced 20 somethings. And the results show the inexperience. The Fond du Lac wall does not match the existing wall. On a 1 to 10, it?s a solid 4. It looks amateurish. They paid no attention to detail. Did not even weed out the ugly non ?conforming odd colored Fond du Lac stones. The little things that true Pros do. Next the Bluestone. After installation we noticed over 100 Bluestone tiles and obvious pneumatic tool scars on them, 100!!! We called Ron and he sent someone out to inspect. After several calls he finally came out to replace ALL the scared tiles. He managed to only replace 50 and when I called him to ask when he planned oh replacing the other 50 he yelled at me stating I should have been there to tell the guys which ones to replace. I guess they could not figure out the obvious on their own. Again, Ron expected me to manage his guys for him. I am positive he purchased 2nd quality Bluestone.
The biggest disappointment with the Bluestone is he did not install the correct thickness. It has been brought to my attention, from contractors I have had come out to fix the problems, is that dry laid Bluestone, if installed by a professional in a workmanlike manner should be 1 inches thick. Not the 1 in. thick stone he installed, which is for mortared down stone only. The 1 in stone would of cost $500 more on an $50k project to do it RIGHT. And the 1 inch stone is making it difficult to fix the grout properly.
The grouting was an epic fail. They used some sort of polymetric sand. They were not even installing it according to the directions on the bag, I had to again, manage the guys and point it out. They could not even read the bag with the directions! The worst part is, it looks horrible. The bag and manufacturer claim it dries firm and when wet if should be the firmness of an eraser. Well, 25% is firm the other 75% is either moss filled or you can rake it out with your finger tip. Yes, you can put your finger right through it. Plus it is not uniformed in color. Looks horrendous.
Other issues I have with the job are: Did not remove all the gravel patio, instead covering it with dirt. The machine they used destroyed my driveway leaving a dozen cracks in the asphalt, dug up part of my neighbors irrigation system, dug up and severed the AT&T buried cable. He brought no toilet for the guys to use. I allowed them to use by basement bathroom. If not my yard would have been their toilet for 3 months. There was an issue almost every day. This was the most stressful job I have ever had done.
My biggest problem with Ron Sansone is he did not keep his word. I mentioned to him at least 4 times that the grout was failing and was not properly installed or was the wrong product. He kept blowing me off. So at the end of the job I told him I was holding back $4k to have the grout fixed by somebody who actually knew what they were doing. That's when he begged me for the money stating he could not make payroll without it. I told him no but he pleaded with me, he sounded desperate. He needed to make payroll. I told him not my problem that if he would of addressed the issue weeks prior it would be a non-issue. That is when he promised me he would fix the grout. I took him for his word and paid him. Later when I asked when he was going to fix the grout he said he was not going to fix it and that I was too picky.
Never heard from him again. Ron, you lied and you know it. You and your guys are not professionals. Very poor quality work.

Ron, Dave and the crew were wonderful. Very respectful of our opinions and offered good ideas when we ran into problems. Ron Sansone Construction was an excellent company to work with. When my husband was diagnosed with a serious illness the very day we signed the initial contract, they were so thoughtful and refunded us our deposit. After that kindness, there was no way we were going with anyone else. When we were able to get back to the project they were so accommodating and fit us into their schedule. Ron himself was on the job many days, working along side of the crew. We were plagued with a month of rain which delayed the project but when the weather cleared they were back on site. They worked with our architect's drawings on the front porch and did the layout for our front terrace themselves. Both porches are beautiful. We have gotten so many compliments. We cannot thank them enough for the time, energy and care they put into our project.

We hired Ron Sansone Construction to replace a combination brick paver and stone entrance walkway, which had deteriorated over many years. We wanted to retain the approximate original design with a combination of red bricks and white stepping stones. Ron Sansone recommended replacing the brick pavers with a better brick installed on a concrete base and mortared. He also suggested widening the walk as it neared the front entrance of the house. Given the rainy spring, the work didn't begin until about a month after signing the contract and making a deposit. But, work commenced in late May, with the removal of the old walkway and the pouring of a cement base. Over the next three weeks the bricks were laid, the stone steps were cut and laid, and everything was mortared. The project was completed in early June. It looks great. A nice touch was a temporary mail box that Sansone installed because the mail carrier wasn't able to get to the normal box. He also put a pvc pipe pass through under the walkway to allow routing of irrigation hoses. The work crew were uniformly polite, and cleaned the work area after they completed the job. They seemed to be very skilled, and seemed to really enjoy constructing the walkway.

"Thank you for your kind remarks about our work and crew. We are happy that you are pleased with our work. It has been a pleasure working for you and we greatly appreciated the opportunity to do so. Most of our men have been with us for a long time and we consider all of them part of our family. If we can be of help to you in the future, please do not hesitate to call us. Best wishes to you."

I originally left Sansone Construction a good review, based on an adequate job. Within a few months I had a problem with the driveway slab heaving in cold weather. The original driveway was completely stable. Sansone omitted an expansion joint adjacent to the garage slab so part of my garage slab broke when the new driveway heaved. Ron sounded like he would take care of it, and initially they patched it but the slab continued moving and broke the repair. Ron said it is a drainage problem and offered to charge me to put in additional drainage. I delayed proceeding on any further expense and found when the weather warmed up, the slab was left elevated so better drainage would not help. Apparently I'll need to pay somebody else to fix this.

I phoned Sansone, Mrs. Sansone answered, took a message and Ron returned my call within an hour, and we set appointment for following day. Ron and Dave showed up on time. We had a lengthy discussion about the job, they asked a lot of questions and listened to my ideas. The following day Dave came back and took measurement and we discussed a few more details. Within 5 days, I had their proposal and drawings. We tweaked those drawings, had another meeting and I signed their contract. Within two weeks they had received the Webster Groves work permit and started the job. I'll say the work was completed on time, however the job took a few weeks longer than originally estimated. The city began totally tearing up and repaving our street shortly after Sansone got on the job and then the snow, rain and freezing added to the timetable. The only minor issue we had was one section of stone wall did not meet my approval and when Ron looked at it he said he didn't like it either. By the end of the next day, he and his men tore out and rebuilt that section section of wall. I didn't expect anything less since this was the second time I had used his company. Fifteen years ago, he built a nice patio at our previous home in Webster.

He had to redraw the plans for me when I changed my mind, and I appreciated that. The person who gave me the bid was actually here, helping! The owner of the company stopped by to make sure the laborers were doing a good job. I absolutely love my new patio! Because they were doing work in the area, the quote I received from them was a lot less than other bids. They even honored an Angie's List 10% discount! It only took 3 days to put the patio in.

I used Ron Sansone previously for construction of new concrete stairs in the front of the house. They did a great job so I called them again for the piers. Again, they did a great job. I would have no problem in recommending them. I have moved since then and I may have some landscaping work at the new house. I will certainly call them for a bid.

We had a great experience with this contractor from the estimate process thru completion. After meeting with several prior contractors, we still weren't sold on the designs that had been suggested. We then met with the estimator for Sansone who had some great ideas regarding design and making sure the patio would look right in the unique space. We could tell that they had a lot of experience with poured patios and knew how to deal with the challenges of our project. We looked at using pavers vs a poured aggregate concrete for the main body of the patio. They did not steer us towards the much more expensive option. We went with the less expensive poured approach and are very happy with the result!
They coordinated well with our irrigation contractor.
Work was done faster than I expected.
Some unrelated contractors caused a setback at one point but Sansone remedied the problem.
They also investigated and did some extra work on an issue with our drainage system that was revealed during the project at no additional charge.
Clean up was great. Couldn't tell that they had been there (except there was now a patio!)
I would absolutely go with this contractor again.

He did a great job and they were very professional. They provided us with multiple options and gave us pricing on various options. He came out to check on how the work was going with his crew. He was really good and I would use him again.

Overall job went well. They arived on time, were always curteous and professional. Our only problem was with the sprinkler system. When they bid the job, they felt confident it would not upset the sprinkler system, and in fact the process of tearing out the driveway damaged some sprinkler heads. They assisted us in finding a company that could repair them immediately (as our company wanted to wait a week or more) and the project proceeded without a problem after that. The finished product looks wonderful.

The crew did a fantastic job of cutting the stone and creating a beautiful pattern with the different sizes and color variations of the bluestone. The old bricks at the end of the walkway had crumbled due to too much salt and heavy suitcases rolling over the edge. Sansone installed three solid rectangular stones at the end of the walk which will never break. It looks far, far better than I anticipated. I am very satisfied with the outcome and whole heartedly recommend them.

Well. We have had difficulty with contractors not returning calls, but Sansone has someone to answer the phone and take messages, and we received timely return calls from people that knew the job. Everything was cleaned up well, and covered well when rain forced a several-day delay. We will be asking them for an estimate for cement work we need done next year.

Our experience was excellent!! Ron and his crew (to include Dave, Eddie, and the rest) were pure professionals. Because of their many years of experience, they were creative with suggestions that exceeded our initial plans. The work was completed in a timely manner and with care. It was obvious they take great pride in their work.
We were most impressed that Ron was on the job daily. It gave us confidence to know the person whose name is on the company was devoting the time and effort to ensure the quality of his work.
We highly recommend Ron Sansone Construction!

Everything was done perfectly with an eye to functionality (drainage, difficult fence placement on one side of the patio), beauty in the placement of stones in the wall and patio, color of grout in patio, hidden mortar in the wall, and durability. It was expensive but I would definitely choose them again for quality.

The job was tougher than contractor expected. We had huge roots that were very difficult to remove before placing patio. The crew hung in there and did not complain. He sent more workers to expedite the process. The job is absolutely gorgeous. The sales guy was very knowledgeable as were the workers. Mr. Sansone came out almost daily to inspect the work. I was extremely impressed.

They did a wonderful job and I would recommend them to anyone. They completed their work in a timely fashion and were courteous and efficient. They were in the middle of the price range for the work that we were seeking. And, we would gladly use them again.
