I had three chimneys and one rock foundation repaired. Rich the owner walked me through what was needed. I agreed and had a start date and a finish date. Came on time and finished on time. I was pleased with the quality of the repairs. Reminded me of the craftsmanship the old timers did when they built the foundation. Cleanup was good. A little pricey but this time I feel like got what I paid for.

Mr. Siebe called back the same day I called about the job. He was always very polite and courteous. He kindly answered all my questions about the job and chimneys in general. He did not push to repair things that could wait awhile (for example, replacing the chimney cover). He explained more expensive aspects that I asked about, but again, did not push for doing it. He notified me about when he was coming out to do the job and called afterwards to see if any questions and review what he had done.

He did an excellent job.  The fireplace has never looked so good.  He was very punctual and professional.  I would recommend this business to my family and friends.

WONDERFULLY!!!
Just bought this house in May 2013. The realtor said he had someone (I think it was a friend doing a freebie) clean the soot out my two flues. Upstairs was a fireplace insert, downstairs was a free-standing stove. Both are manufactured by LOPI.
Used the downstairs stove a few times, without major mishap, before the colder weather set in. A little smokey smell was present, but I dealt with it, thinking it was a little nostalgic.
When the temps dropped (below 30-degrees), I started to ramp up the usage of this LOPI stove. Woke up early one morning with a stronger smell of smoke. Not very nostalgic, this time. Opened the stove door, and an inordinate amount of smoke puffed out, in addition to a steady stream of smoke coming through the seams of the stove pipes. I mean, there was a LOT of smoke!! The 'draw' was virtually non-existent. Went outside to check the chimney, and less smoke was exiting there, compared to the smoke filling the basement. Opened ALL the windows and doors, turned on the attic fan, to start sucking in the outside freezing air.

- Complete scenario with this unwelcome experience:
- 1. Burning eyes.
- 2. Choking air.
- 3. Gradient levels of smoke below the ceiling.
- 4. Acrid, versus pleasant, odor of smoke.
- 5. Stench still present several days later.
- 6. Finally, bought one of those carbon-laced furnace filters, as an aid to eliminate remaing smells.
- Rick gave a call the evening before, to confirm the 9:00 AM appointment. Performed a basic inspection, assesed what we both suspected in the flue. He went right to work..., starting on the roof, finding a blockage (with his flue brushes) about 14 foot down inside. Went downstaris and eventually rammed an opening through the soot build-up, then finished swabbing with his brushes. Completely cleaned up any soot particulates in the area.
- WORKS GREAT - NOW!!
- Excellent draw, and virtually all of the wood is consumed in the firebox. No puffs of smoke spurtting back into the basement, now. I don't know what the standard and quot;priceand quot; is for this service, as this is the 1st time I'm ever used the services of a chimney sweep. BUT, this guy was professional in all areas, and I'll most likely use him again it the fall of 2014 would recommend. At that point, his 'rate' was acceptable and affordable.

Showed up for inspection at agreed date and time. Thoroughly inspected outside tuck pointing, cap, flue, and flue cover. We discussed what repairs were critical and which could be delayed as well as optional work such as application of water proofing agent. He indicated the water proofing must be done to extend life of tuck pointing, but the owner could just as easily apply the agent. He also supplied an estimate to completely replace the top 5 feet and 10 feet of the chimney to ensure we understood the importance of all the repairs and sealing. Payment terms and date/time were agreed upon. He confirmed the appointment the week before repairs were to start. On repair days, he contacted us when he arrived and departed. Prior to sealing, again contacted us to ensure we knew the date and time the work was to be done. Overall experience was very positive and professional. I've personally inspected the new cap and tuck pointing. There a no more cracks, loose mortar, all joints are smooth, and all mortar levels appear the correct height (not too much, not too little). The new cap is thicker than the old cap and has a slope to provide proper runoff.
