I highly recommend Dana King Next Project Studio for your home renovation needs. We were planning a rather large renovation including a complete gut of our kitchen and guest bath, as well as refreshing the family room and main hallway. It was important that we had a designer/contractor who would oversee the entire project. We had used Dana King in 2015 to refresh our foyer, living room and dining room and we were impressed with how smoothly the project went, so we hired them again in late 2022. We met with Dana to go over the scope of the project. Dana then gave us estimated costs and timelines. Dana’s group handled every step of the project. The project was overseen by our project manager, Drew Chapman. They made sure all the proper permits were in place before the project began. Our designer, Meg Blais, was in contact with us nearly every day for design selections. The carpenters, Nick Duncan and Greg Piper, made sure the project stayed on schedule, overseeing plumbers, flooring installers, electricians, insulators, fireplace installers, and painters. Meg made sure our appliances, flooring, cabinets, fixtures, paint, and backsplashes were all ordered on time to keep the project on track. Our biggest design issues were with the kitchen location. From the front door, you had to either walk down the hall through the family room into the kitchen, or else go through the dining room. I am not a fan of open concept, so I needed ideas on how to make the kitchen more accessible without tearing down walls. I was also concerned that the main narrow hallway was so dark. Meg came up with the great idea of adding a doorway from the kitchen to the hallway. This provided immediate access to the kitchen from the main hallway, as well as providing extra light to the hallway. She also increased the opening from the dining room to the kitchen and moved the refrigerator to a more accessible location. Even though the doorway in the kitchen meant losing cabinet space, Meg’s design gave us more storage than we had in the old kitchen. The entire process took three months, but the project manager and carpenters kept us informed every single day what had been completed and what was happening the next day, so we were never left wondering what was next with our project. Because Dana King Next Project Studio handles every aspect of a remodel, you don’t have to worry about permits, inspections, which trades people will be showing up each day. Everything was so smooth, and the people assigned to our project were the nicest, kindest, and most professional I’ve ever worked with. I had no problem with having them in our home every day. Our dog loved everyone; it was tough to keep him out from underfoot. Just the best company I’ve ever worked with, and we will definitely use them again when it's time to update our master bed and bath.

We purchased our home in February 2022 and planned to relocate to St. Louis in August. Dana’s team remodeled our kitchen and sunroom, created a walk in closet in the primary bedroom, and handled various other cosmetic upgrades. The team was a pleasure to work with, and we are thrilled with how our projected turned out! Brett managed construction and was an absolute professional. We really appreciated his solution-oriented approach and transparent communication throughout every stage of the process. Michelle handled all design aspects [including drawing up layouts and proposing options for fixtures/tile/hardware/furnishings/drapery]. Michelle’s expertise and consultative approach allowed us to feel confident and excited when making our selections. We appreciated her patience (we are first time homeowners), and our reliance on her recommendations is in large part why we love the design of our home today. Overall, the team went above and beyond in their efforts to ensure that we were happy with the final product. Dana’s ability to offer a “one stop shop” for both design and construction is invaluable. We were thoroughly impressed with the team’s ability to coordinate and execute in a timely manor (especially during a time when supply chain issues are as difficult as ever), while keeping within budget. Additionally, we found that remodeling a home can be an emotional process. The team listened to and collaborated with us, communicated effectively, offered solutions to address unforeseen occurrences, and ultimately enhanced the vision we had for our home. The team provided A+ quality work in both construction/design and service. They consistently delivered on all levels. We look forward to working with the team again on our future projects!

The kitchen is a masterpiece. It was completely gutted and designed to my specifications. It appears as I envisioned it. There were some lengthy delays due to supply chain issues (which contributed to making costs twice as much as what I had anticipated) and worker availability. The bath is positively charming. Being a smaller project and an update of fixtures, I believe it was completed ahead of schedule. The results have received oohs and aahs of admiration from my friends and acquaintances. I am already working with Dana King NEXT Studio Project on my next project.

This is our second project with Dana and her team. They took a bathroom with an oversized tub and undersized shower and reworked everything to give us universal accessibility and a linen cabinet. We expanded the original scope of work to add carpet and paint in the primary bedroom; they took on the challenge without a hiccup. We love our new space! The team is excellent at communication and highly responsive. They gave us consistent status updates about the state of the day’s work, what the plan for the next day was, who would be doing the work, and when they would arrive. Because of supply-chain issues, what had been marked as a 9-week project stretched to 24 weeks; but they worked with us every step of the way, advising us if we should substitute materials or if waiting would be a better option. When our original floor tiles were held up indefinitely we were able to make changes on the fly because of the original scouting trip we’d made with Renna - no need to spend another day looking at samples!

Secondary upstairs bathroom with old plumbing and electric service updated to a modern space anyone would be happy to use. All plumbing, electric and fixtures replaced. Glass block wall cracked over last 50 years and was replaced with an obscured picture window. Humidity control connected to the fan. Nice vanity with electric and USB ports. This is our second Dana King project. They are not cheap but they are prompt, respectful, do great work and finish on time. I feel comfortable that they will lock up when done and be respectful of my home. They care about your house not just your project-my front door knob had been broken (still locked) for 15 years and they noticed it and Meg the designer found another one that worked. During the flood, Greg (the project manager) saw me struggling with a leak and carried water to help. The people I have worked with on both projects (kitchen and living room 2 years ago) just go a step beyond the expectation. Greg noticed the baseboard delivered did not match the other upstairs baseboard and took it back and found a match. Greg can be in your home working and you can almost forget he is there-he is a favorite.

I needed to get my laundry room out of the basement and brought up to the main floor. The only good option was to convert part of my single-car garage. After all, who can really part today's car in a 1960's size single garage?! I had a general idea of what I wanted but Dana and her team listened to my needs and came up with a design that worked with both my needs and budget! I use to have to depend on my kids (AKA: pay them) to do my laundry. It's so nice doing my own laundry again and I sing Next Project Studio's praises with each load! Bravo Dana & Team!

We used Dana King to remodel our master bathroom in 2017, and to this day, we absolutely love that she was able to capture our vision. We have now engaged her services to renovate our kitchen and I am so excited to be working with her again.

Dana and her team were extremely professional and delivered a high quality of work. I would highly recommend Dana King Design Build Remodeling for a remodeling project. We used them for both a master bathroom and a master bedroom remodel. Both rooms turned out absolutely gorgeous. I actually heard about Dana King Design Build Remodeling through a direct mail ad and decided to see what they could do for us and our master bathroom, which was in desperate need of a remodel. We had done remodeling projects in the past, some major, such as extending our previous house to add larger bedrooms and add a jack-and-jill bathroom. We’ve also done two kitchen remodels, a theater addition, lower levels, and a couple of bathrooms. Some of the projects we general-managed, and for others we hired companies, but either way we always seemed to have to manage and “sweat each detail.” Frankly we were so done with that scenario and wanted a complete turn-key operation. That is absolutely what we got with Dana King Design Build Remodeling! When we initially reached out to Dana King Design Build Remodeling, Dana came to our home with Meg, her design architect, and they talked to us. We decided to invest in the design fee to see their ideas and what they could do for us. We are glad we did! Dana King Design Build Remodeling had wonderful ideas and are the perfect mix between personable and professional. With any remodel project there are always issues and delays, and Dana King Design Build Remodeling addressed these minor problems promptly and professionally. Our master bathroom project did not involve moving walls, but did have a large whirlpool tub that needed replacing. The bathroom was completed in late 2019 and we are thrilled with the results. We loved it so much that we decided to hire Dana King Design Build Remodeling to do our master bedroom. I did not think they could outdo themselves, but they did! The master bedroom is spectacular, even more impressive than the bath. As a designer friend of mine said: “I don’t know if I could sleep there because I would want to stay awake enjoying it!” So true, and we agree. For our master bedroom projects we worked with Meg again, and with their designer Michelle. Their ideas and furnishings were over the top and incredibly stunning. They were both easy to work with and communication for both projects was through an app called Basecamp, where everything is documented and all parties involved are notified. Don’t worry if you’re not tech savvy, I’m not, and I figured it out. We could also contact them directly by phone or text, which I also did. The carpentry in the master bedroom, which involved beautiful moldings and “paneling look,” was done by Kent, who did a phenomenal job. Kent also supervised all the trades coming through the house: electricians, blinds, painters, etc. Kent was a pleasure to work with, very conscientious and an all-around nice guy. Dana King Design Build Remodeling followed all safety protocols for Covid-19, including masks, a washing station at the entrance, and sanitizing upon exiting. They were patient with us regarding delaying the project start date, as it was in March of 2020. Even though furnishings were ordered and delivered, they stored all items until we felt comfortable with starting the project. In conclusion, we are extremely pleased with the job Dana King Design Build Remodeling did for our master bathroom and master bedroom. They were not the least expensive, but we held them to high standards for the price paid and they followed through. No regrets!

With more time spent working from home, we wanted to close off our den/media room so it could function as an office during the day. Our house was build in 1933 and we wanted the doors to look they had always been a part of the house. The opening was large so required two doors as well as moving electrical boxes. We have used Dana King a couple of years ago for a renovation project. With projects, the creativity of the design along with the high quality workmanship was outstanding. Every craftsman who entered our house was highly skilled at their trade, courteous and left the house clean when they left. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Dana and her team.

This was such a pleasant process from beginning to end! Dana King - Design Build Remodeling has helped us with other areas of our home, and this time we focused on our family room. Dana gave us lots of design advice including arrangement, furniture and artwork purchasing advice, drew up detailed plans for a complete remodel of our fireplace and also recommended paint color and flooring. We love our new room and can't thank her enough. We are already planning to use her services again and recommend her highly!

Went very smoothly. They added a pantry that looks like it was always there and did other updates. There were a few follow up items to deal with but they always showed up when they said they would and kept to the basic timetable. I'm very happy with the results.

Our century home was in need of a serious update. Our upstairs bath was gutted and expanded for a full renovation. We had a few bumps in the road with some sub-contractors; however, Dana King Designs handled those situations for us. The end result was a nice new space that we enjoy using daily!

Dana and Retta came out to look at our house to help my husband and I decide what projects we might want to do (or not) that would increase our enjoyment of our existing home while keeping in mind the current value of the house now and the potential value of any major changes. I really wanted someone who could think outside the box in terms of rearranging the current floor plan without building an addition. They were able to make a few suggestions about possible projects and ballpark pricing for those projects so we can decide if we want to move forward with any or all of them (e.g. add a bathroom while moving walls to keep the same number of bedrooms). We may ultimately decide it's a better value to just sell our house as is and move to a different space that has more of the features we want. It was helpful to review the possibilities with people who actually do the work; I got what I expected from a consultation with a pro; a few ideas I hadn't thought of, confirmation that most of what I want would cost more than what I'm willing to spend on this house, and also felt confident that if I move forward on a project here or in the future I'd feel good about consulting with Dana and her team again.
