However, during the winter the gutters above and around our front door actually collected the snow which turned into ice and slowly melted throughout the day.  Our entranceway had a thick covering of solid ice which formed from the steady dripping off of the gutters.  May 2011 I wrote to Mike Claspell complaining about this ice buildup which happened with each snowfall.  I did not receive a response so after three weeks I called.  Mike said he would install heat tape for about $100 which should take care of the problem. This would be done the following week he told me.   I have not heard from him since.

I spent $5420 on that work. I liked everything about them. They came out, got my gutters up, they cleaned and left. They were quick and efficient and their work was good. Their work made a lot of difference. I liked that they finished their work fast and gave way for me to have the other work done.

The salesman who came to my home for the estimate seemed rather overbearing and that made me feel uncomfortable. I had done my product comparison shopping and knew this was the best product for me after watching a DIY program demonstrating compaisons of gutter guard effectiveness. I don't think you can buy a better gutter guard. So I was pleased with the finished product. However, I felt the cost was a bit steep. I also wish the workmen had done a better job of picking up all the nails. I have toddlers around and when I urged the workers in advance to get all the nails up, I found some were still left for me to pick up.
