Concrete Driveways
He was recommended by my realtor to take care of some dry rot on the house under a window. A previous bidder stated that the job would need a permit, but it appears based on our second experience he didn't bother to get one.
We contacted him again for an estimate after our home was hit by a small tornado about 4 months later. he said he had worked with our insurance company before. We had already had one estimate, but it was VERY low and did not cover all the damage. Jared kept asking for the $2400 they had given us even though he would never provide us with an estimate of the work nor did he ever contact the insurance company to have a new review completed.
He scheduled someone to come over to start the repairs on the chimney with us twice, but no one ever showed up. We need extensive repairs. After the second no show and the third time refusing to give him a check without an estimate or contract, we fired him (not difficult since we couldn't get him to show up).
Afterward, i called the city to see if he had even applied for a permit (he said he only needed to pick it up) & found out he had never even applied for one. Then i called the insurance company to see if he had ever contacted them and he had not.
So basically this guy was trying to take what little money I had and run with it leaving me with $18,000 in damages unfinished & a lien on my home (that is the law that contractors can put a lien on your home for repairs). I got a qualified contractor (Tom Johnson Construction) to complete the work and he did a great job both with the insurance company (took 4 months to get them to cough up all the cash) & the repairs (our place looks fantastic).
STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY --- HE IS A THIEF. He lies and does not acquire permits. He tries to get funds from you without contracts. I may be new at tornado damage & home renovation - but I'm smart enough not to hand over a check without a contract. This guy will rip you off.
