FANTASTIC job! We had a BIG project from inside remodel to demo and adding a new screened in porch and under decking. Jon had a lot of great suggestions and the RainTight crew was awesome. Would highly recommend!

We have used RT construction twice now for two separate projects and have absolutely LOVED our results. The whole team was easy to work with and unbelievably responsive. Home projects are tough, so having someone that is seemingly always available to answer questions, give advice, etc is HUGE! Our latest project was a full home build out of town...daunting task, but we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It is everything we envisioned and more! I would not hesitate to recommend RT to anyone.

Jon listened to our ideas and needs, then came back with a design addressing each of our requests. Once started, there were some additions and modifications that were needed and those changes were made to our delight. We could not be happier with the final outcome, and have received many compliments from our neighbors and visitors.

We are very happy with the deck that was installed by RT Construction. They did an amazing job on our custom railings. The guys that came out to do the work were very nice and polite. They made sure to clean up every day and not leave a huge mess while we were under construction. We are so happy with how the deck and new roof addition turned out and feel like we extended our living room space!

Overall it went well and turned out nice. They installed LED lights and two ceiling fan mounts with it, and the underdecking itself looks great and we have not had any leaks in the underdecking at all. The only suggestion I would have is to not have them hook up the downspout from the gutter - if I could do it again I would hire someone with experience to do the downspouts - the way they hook it up is rather crude - they just cut an x out of the gutter, fold the flaps down, and screw the downspout in which requires a lot of caulk and it leaks. they came back and touched it up though. Also, the way our deck is they have two gutters and the downspouts from them form a Y into a single downspout. Insetad of ordering a Y adaptor which I know are available, where they put the two pieces into the single downspout, each one protruded 3/4 the way through the gutter, so instead of having a 3 inch gutter, we effectively had a 1/2 inch gutter with switchbacks and no leaves could make it past - the leaves that hit our deck are tiny - about 3/4 inch by 2 inches. I since fixed it myself since they don't cover clogs and didn't want to waste several months going back and forth with them.

This spring we noticed some leakage. I called rain tight 3-4 times with no answer, or left message and did not receive a call back. When after numerous attempts I finally reached someone, I was told the person who handled problems was out with laryngitis, tho he would call me the following week. Guess what, NO CALL! Again, I began calling only to get voice mail. Finally after approximately 6 weeks attempting to talk to someone, Nate called and said he would send a crew out to look at it. I voiced my displeasure with the difficulty getting someone to return my call, he assured me he would follow up. I guess a crew came out?? I have never heard anything from anyone at Rain tight. I continued to call with no one answering. When a gal finally answered I explained again, nicely but firmly the difficulties I was having. Again, no response. I have no other option but to post this review and warn any prospective buyers to beware. It is unfortunate, I don't like writing bad reviews, but I feel like I gave Rain Tight plenty of opportunities to take care of my situation. My background is in customer service, and Rain Tight has NO customer service.
Description of Work: We had a rain tight ceiling installed on the underside of our upper deck, in order to enjoy the lower deck without water. The installation was done in May of 2015.

From Facebook Review: October 22, 2016 at 9:27am Our system still leaks. We had them install the system inside the storage area under our deck. It was a special application which they apparently were not qualified to do. It was critical to have this area water tight. Chris guaranteed us they would make it water tight. We spent a lot of money having Lakeside Exteriors reside and wrap our house. They did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, our experience with Raintight hasn't been the same. We have water that still runs down structural posts and also down the new sheathing Lakeside installed, wrapped with Tyvek, and then put up the Hardie board siding. It is critical that we keep they entire inside of this unit dry, not just for what is stored in it, but structurally. In addition to the side walls leaking, the panel system is allowing dirt and water to drip through. The owner nor salesman address the issue. They always have their office staff contact us and say they will come out the net time it rains. They never show. Forget the lifetime warranty, we've never had a waterproof area to begin with. We are EXTREMELY disappointed with this company. What good is a lifetime guarantee if you can't even get the results you expect to begin with. Ours was a special application and I don't think they put the thought into that they should have. If this was a job they could not guarantee, they should have taken our money and try to do the job. We've relayed that we just want our money refunded and find another company who is qualified to address our application. This has been going on for over a year. I wish I was writing a review talking about the issues we were having and then relaying how great they were with followup and correcting the situation. Sadly, this is not the case, we have water issues, and we are having to tear our deck apart our selves to see how we can properly flash the unit to protect our home and the contents in the storage area. In addition, I guess we'll have to caulk the joints of their panel system since that is allowing water to drip through also. 12/13/16 UPDATE: PRODUCT IS FAILING. It was installed 12/2015. Panels are blistering and may not be solid aluminum as indicated in marketing material. Still no response. Discovered they also caulked between the deck boards from below. That's a water trap and opportunity for rot. (See my reply to Dan Wager's review....Well it looks like my comment to Dan explaining our extremely negative experience has been removed. In addition, another user posted a question to Dan wanting to know what his outcome was and that was deleted also.) In short, our project was completed last December and we still have water issues. Our application required making a storage room under our deck water tight after spending top dollar having Hardieboard siding put on our home. Lakeside added new sheathing, Tyvek wrap, and then sided the room to blend with the home. Water keeps seeping in soaking the sheathing and support posts. In addition, the panels they installed are allowing water to drip through. Our sales person, Chris Keagy, guaranteed they could do the job and that there is a lifetime warranty on this product and installation. They came out once and still have not fixed the issue. They apparently weren't qualified for our application and should have never taken on the job. The owner nor sales person does not respond. They've been passing the buck to their administrative personnel, first Sara and now Anne. They have these gals put people off for them instead of dealing with the situation up front. We told Anne in August, we just want our money back and they can come and get their system. She told us the project manager wants to come out when it's raining to take a look. Haven't heard from them since. It is critical that the storage area stay dry for structural reasons, protecting the investment in the work done for the siding, and keeping our personal items from water damage. We've given up on calling them and now have to go through the hassle of pulling up the deck boards and coming up with a way to properly flash the existing structure. We'll just have to caulk the panels of their system to prevent the water and dirt debris that keeps coming through. Their 5 year LIMITED installation warranty and LIFETIME product warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. That requires the company addressing the issue. Only 97 square feet of coverage and $1400 flushed down the drain. Had the issue been addressed instead of constantly being blown off, we would have revised our reviews. Unfortunately, that is not the case. This is an expensive product. We've worked with many contractors and have had great experiences. After this whole episode, we cannot, in good conscience, recommend using Raintight for the job. I suggest getting your money back if you can. UPDATE 5/14/17 STAY CLEAR OF RAINTIGHT!!!!! PRODUCT is FAILING!!!! They DON'T STAND by their WARRANTY. Management never has contacted us or returned calls. Found out from former employees that's their style, they just throw it up, cash the checks, and move on to the next job. POOR (NO) quality, POOR (NO) workmanship, EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT and OWNER. NO INTEGRITY OR TRUST WITH THIS GROUP!

Response from RT Construction/RainTight Decks
Mr. [Member Name Removed], So very sorry for your extreme effort put into the explanation of your situation. RainTight has made multiple attempts to flash your existing shed walls and door area. The problem encountered here is a situation that we do encounter from time to time, but generally in working with our customers we are able to find a solution. The installation of a RainTight system, is a system of water diversion using a standard building techniques to divert water from the house flashing's into our panel system. Yes we are involved in multiple times each year to help customers build storage/enclosed areas under their deck. These areas can become very difficult to waterproof during very heavy rains like we have recently encountered. We tell all customers when your house gutters are overflowing and adding excess water on to your deck from above your RainTight will always struggle to keep up much like your house gutters. The best application for the RainTight and shed is always in a turn-key application. In your case unfortunately the shed was in place and we have made multiple attempts to waterproof existing areas. In one of our last visits we encountered a few existing items that were problematic and we tried to explain the complexity of the waterproofing of the simple shed. RainTight was unfortunately unable to bridge the communication gap between the consumer and RainTight thus leaving us in this situation. RainTight, will always warranty our work. We do have a strange situation where you let a former disgruntled employee of ours who started a competing business come and work on the RainTight product. We have never had this issue before, we hope that no tampering has occurred with our system. but will do our absolute best to help. Please contact us directly if we can have the opportunity to revisit this. Sincerely, RainTight Decks.

The crew arrived as scheduled, answered all questions posed to them while they were installing, explained and showed how the whole system worked and made sure that we were satisfied with the work before they left. The cost of the service was very reasonable based on other estimates for this work, that we had previously received. The crew completely cleaned up everything that they had used (or not used) before they left. They were very friendly and professional.

Jon assured us he would be available to help us in future and gave us a private number to call. He also explained he is often in Kansas City with the company.
Description of Work: We had a screen installed in 2013. We had problems with it from the beginning. Jon was there to help us at first? Now we have issues with the screen off track and won't work. We've called twice. No return calls. "Jon is out of town" we expected service work for future problems, not free work mind you but service calls. UPDATE I called a third time and finally got a call from Jon. Jon came to house and spent several hours with my husband to correct the problem. Jon stated he doesn't sell the retractable screens anymore due to increased problems with them.

It is difficult to answer the above questions due to the fact that our problems have been getting worse over time. When we talked to Jon he was very pleasant and seemed to be a honest business man. The roof went up when he said it would. The men who installed it were professional and cleaned up each day they were here working. He did give us the price he quoted last year. Everything was great until it rained! The roof leaks in 2 or 3 places. The gutter also does not drain correctly. Jon was very responsive initially trying to deal with the situation. They have done a lot of caulking. Nothing they have done corrected the situation. Jon told us the chimney needed to be tuck pointed. My husband tried to do it himself, but it still leaked. So we hired a professional to do it, still leaks after spending more money. Now Jon will not answer my emails. I have sent emails and text messages with pictures attached showing the leaks. We are getting very frustrated with this situation since cold weather will be here soon. If he doesn't know how to fix it, then he needs to find someone who can fix it or pay us for having it fixed. He says 100% satisfaction. We are not satisfied. This started in April and continues in September! !

RainTight has and will always strive to make each and every project they complete perfect. In certain cases there are other factors that impact our work and we unfortunately get the job of diagnosing the problems. After a long and tiresome process of determining the leak on this project we unfortunately have found what we believe is to be a roof leak is do to a failure in the customers existing asphalt roof. RainTight has offered to help the customer in anyway that we can and will continue to do so until they have a finial resolution to their problem. We hope that in the big picture once the homeowners fell comfortable with their finial solutions they would agree that their project is and A+. Sincerely RainTight Decks.

Our experience with Raintight was wonderful... all we could ever expect . Jon was great to work with - provided us a fair and honest proposal, a realistic timeline, and a crew that was professional. I read the other reviews, but what I have learned is that some people just have different expectations, and if you can find a company that will treat you as their only customer, then maybe you are. My husband and I are pretty easy going, and can appreciate how challenging construction work can be, but if you set the exceptions up front, then everyone's on the same page. I would give them an A+ for this reason. How'd it go? Well, we were not in a great hurry to start our project because we knew we were going into winter. Jon came out and gave us a bid which was in the middle of the other two we got. We decided to go with Raintight because we liked the no-pressure, this is our best price approach, and the appearance of their other projects looked stellar. After we got all the needed approvals, the crew showed up on the date promised, timely and friendly. Each morning, on time, and worked hard - even on the cold mornings when the temperature was only in the 20's (actually I was amazed that they could keep working). They even rehung our outdoor speakers where I wanted them, and were quick to point out any issues that might affect the plans (which were very few). Jon kept us up to date with our timeline and when to expect completion, and the final product is just what I dreamed of. I love the deck ceiling system they installed - now I'm wondering if I'll spend more time under the deck rather than in my fabulous screened room! If you are considering an under-deck system these guys know what they are doing - additionally, they know decks and screen rooms - so overall you could say we really tested their skills. I would definitely call on Raintight again for any deck project.

The salesperson Bob Timmons was of course wonderful at the point of sale but has been lacking in his follow up to ensure the job was done well much less done at all. We contracted with Raintight Decks in May and needed to put down a deposit of $1400 to get on their install schedule. We were promised a turnaround of no more than 8 weeks. The project should have been completed no later than 7/15. It is 8/5 and the project has yet to be started. Not once have we received a proactive call from the installer, rather the pattern is to leave multiple messages for him and eventually (after 5-7 days seems to be the norm) he apologizes and gives a litany of excuses as to why he has not been able to start. Our most recent conversation with him was on 7/26 when he assured us he would be by on 7/28 to do a final inspection of the job before install (no show, no call) and also assured us the work would begin 7/29 and would be completed by 7/31 (no show, no call). We have left messages and still no response. We have now reached out to the salesperson as well. We would NOT RECOMMEND this company.

I didn't purchase a deal on Angies list but found them through advertisement. The gentleman who bid the job was very nice and explained exactly what the job entailed. I received the bid per email, as I requested, sent in my deposit and was eager to have the job done. I understand they are very busy and since I am retired I patiently waited my turn! Was it ever worth the wait!! Mike and some young men came and did the complete job in a long hard days work. They were professional and very polite, taking care to clean up after the job. The resulting deck cover is amazing. I opted for the LED lights and fan installation as well. Mike and his crew did the light install and wired for the fan. I am really pleased with the result and would certainly call them again and recommend them to anyone contemplating a similar project. The electrician arrived the very next day to wire the fan, and when he left, I realized that I would need to turn on the porch light to use the fan. I called Calvin and before you could turn around, the electrician was back and fixed the hookup. Now I don't have to use the light when I need the fan on. I am completely satisfied and happy. Thank you Calvin, Mike and the whole crew.

Once we signed the contract they said they would "get on it right away". Signed the contract on 3/12/14. Didn't hear anything until 3 weeks later with and estimated start date. Job was finished and invoiced on 4/21/14. **We have lights under the deck and removed them so they ceiling could be installed. They took our wire and ran it through a box with no fittings and then through a piece of wood again with no fittings. Then installed the aluminum ceiling allowing the aluminum to rest against the wire. This aluminimun ceiling could have possibably cut the wires causing electricial issues. My husband is an electrician, and lucky that he caught this, because this is illegal. **The starter channel against the house was crooked and uneven. My husband called and spoke to the owner and he said that he would be out the next day to talk to us. I called the salesman, Bob Timmons, he came out that evening. His response was not to worry that he would take care of it, and he did take care of it. The owner came out the next day but never spoke to my husband who was home. **We overhead the workers making the remark, as they were doing the re-work, this is going to be the srtaightest job we've ever done. My husband was home the entire time during the installation and they could of asked questions at anytime, but failed to. Getting this job to the completion point was a huge undertaking.
Description of Work: Installed under deck ceiling. Approx size 18 x 30.

John company is experiencing "growing pains" and he sometimes is behind schedule due to weather and other problems. He is an honest and caring person who strives to make everyone happy. Be patient and you will receive and excellent product and workmanship. He designed a product for us not normally available in St Louis area.
Description of Work: We wanted a motorized garage door screen. John measured our oversized door, and gave us options for type of screening. First screen installed was defective. After several visits to correct he ordered a new screen from manufacturer. We are very pleased with the privacy and security this product provides, plus bug control!

Jon came out and gave us a very fair estimate without any pushy sales pitch or "let me now give you my best deal". He gave us his best estimate right from the start which is what we wanted. After we decided to use this company, we were given an estimated start date, and even though it wasn't right on that day (we were in no hurry), when the actual day was given, the work crew arrived on time every day and the work was completed as expected. We were pleased with their professionalism and they did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. While we didn't have a Rain Tight Deck installed, judging from the quality of work they did on the soffit and fascia, I would recommend them if this is a project you are planning to do.
Description of Work: Installed soffit and fascia.
