Two and a half years later, all of the sunny areas in our home are close to being completely warn through. Our last refinish job lasted 8 years in the same area. The high traffic areas are fine, but the area by our bay window are completely warn so I have to sand it again AND coat it....
We have had several other bids now to have them refinished again and each company said that I should have a new coat on every 2/3 years and NOT sand as it should last longer.
I spoke with Dave, the owner of Hardwoodz and he said I waited too long and 2 years is common for high traffic areas; although this is NOT a high traffic area... just sun area. He agreed that it needs to be sanded, stained and new coats. He suggested I waited too long to have a coat put on.
Refinishing floors is expensive, time consuming and hard labor to move everything. I will be going with a company that does not expect me to do this every year.
