"I returned this customer's phone call the same day and left a message on his voicemail. Attempted to contact the customer again the next day and left another voicemail. I never heard anything back, and was waiting for a response."
"Thanks for the review. Call us if you want to use our services."
"Happy to serve. Please, please let me know if there are any questions about the work we did. Call anytime."
"Thanks for the review. Hope to install the siding on your house this summer."
Would use again for other services such as siding and roofing.
"thanks for the great review. Call anytime."
The contractor and his assistant arrived promptly and surveyed the work. It didn't take him long to figure out what needed to be done and give us the options. He finished the work quickly and seemed knowledgeable about his work. He also suggested replacing some hardware, which we had not thought of as part of the problem. It was a great fix!
Cons:
After he told us what needed to be done he asked for cash to go buy supplies. That seemed really weird. When he walked out the door to the store I wasn't sure I would ever see him again. When he was done he asked for $24 for 4 tubes of caulk used. My husband could not fathom that this project required 4 tubes of caulk. But I have to say the kitchen smelled like caulk for two days, so maybe he really did need that much!
Pro again:
He DID come back with supplies! He apologized for taking too long as he needed to go to two stores. He brought us change and a receipt. I guess he has no working capital or is brand new. Just struck me as really odd.
"If you read the coupon the customer needs to supply all the material before i arrived. Or i have no problem buying the material. i do have funds available. I consider these coupons small jobs. i did trust these people. but you never know. this is why i get money up front. its like a down payment. and yes i did use four tubes. hard to believe but i did. :) thanks for the review."

"we try."
"This review seems very unfair to my character. i have multiple letters and accolades from police officers and business men that can vouch for my good character and honesty and respect. i was nothing but respectful to this person. her neighbor she spoke of was checking in on her dogs and started taking to my worker, just sitting in the grass and talk talk talk. i show up from getting material for job leaving my assistant to do the demo. (which is really good for the customer it like they get two carpenter for one price) anyway this neighbor says to me what are you on lunch like in a joking but demeaning way as if i am not working. so all i am saying is i am not wasting anyones time here i am thoughtful respectful and i always go the extra mile. this siding that was cracked was brought to my attention. and i was not given any opportunity to correct it. not fare. when i went to collect payment there was no mention of any damage if i new of damage i would have immediately made arrangements to correct it because i care about the reviews."
I was mad when I arrived because I have a decent sized front porch and he puts the swing on the edge of the porch so that as soon as the swing went back, it would be exposed to the elements. When I told him that the swing needs to be put closer in so I would not get wet if I were swinging and it was raining, he said he never heard of putting a swing "THAT FAR" inside a porch. He could not find a stud and did not have a stud finder and put about 10 holes in my porch ceiling trying to locate one blindly. He knocked on my door and started telling me how he built homes and knew how framing was and it looks like another stud was not available where it was SUPPOSED to be at 16' or 24". This guy spoke to me (not sure if it matters that I am a female) as if I were stupid on top of that; I have an engineering background though but did not disclose that to him. I asked him the options and he said he could go to Home Depot to purchase a stud finder or try and use an anchor without a stud but would not guarantee the work then. I told him to go to HD.
It took him almost an hour to get the stud finder when the Home Depot is 2 miles away. He still could not find a stud with the stud finder and put in more holes in my porch ceiling. He kept going on and on about how competent he really was and how he has done so many jobs. When he told me he did not know what to do, I then told him what to do by taking a small side of the siding off so he could find the stud. When he looked through the opening, he AMAZINGLY found a stud AND it was at 24" in from the edge, even though he said there was none. His apprentice was laughing at him the whole time.
It took him a few minutes to hang up the swing after I showed him how to find a stud. He then stood around and then made excuses that you never know how long a project was going to take and this one took longer so I needed to pay him for the extra time. I told him that he would have still never found the stud if I had not helped him and that he spent an hour at Home Depot. They left a huge mess of boxes AND their lunch I bought them. He said he would have had to charge me for the extra time if he cleaned up.
The job looks shoddy. The swing anchors are placed in different directions (perpendicular from each other). The extra holes he made are everywhere.
I just received a letter (25 July) that there is a lien going to be placed on me if I don't pay him for his extra two hours "working on my project," including the hour at Home Depot. If he could have found the stud, then it would have taken him less than an hour.
"With all do respect my counter offer is the one hundred dollars. I tried to reason with her. If she just pays her bill then no lien on the property. I attempted to negotiate and come to an agreement with this women. She degraded me and belittled me. As if my fees and my companies charges which are clearly laid out in the coupon she purchased aren't clear. she told me to leave and we will discuss this later and didn't want to have this conversation in front of her daughter. (she didn't plan on paying me from the beginning) she then texted me the next day she offered to ay me forty dollars and told me I don't even deserve that. her exact words where: You have two choses i can give you 40 dollars an i will right a bad review. or you can not take the money and forget the whole thing. Which means she docent have to pay her bill. again i was very polite and respectful. I did a great job it took some time. she owes me $100 dollars. I will take nothing else. she had her chance to be fare with me she decided to stiff me and to blackmail me."

I emailed Joshua to cancel other work that I had scheduled with him because of the lack of quality on this job. I told him I would need to have the job re-done as the entire room was due to be painted. I never heard back. i feel that I paid too much for this specific part of the job and that he was uninterested in making it right by offering to fix it or giving me a partial refund.
I am sorry this happened because he seems to be capable of doing many different kinds of repairs and does repairing of rotted wood on the outside of the home that was the job I had to cancel.
I use Angie's List "Big Deals" often but will be more cautious from now on.
"We try. Life got in the way this go around."
"i contacted this person and set a time she was not home when i arrived i called and she said she did respond and canceled the appointment because she has to work during the week i had no record of this response frustrating, no big deal, grain of salt. i said i will contact again and set a time. contacted again and sent a very concerned and accommodating note saying i will work with your schedule and and do what ever it takes to get the work done to your satisfaction she responded with a question about price and i said price and then i get a refund request and then an F. not fare :)"

Josh was very courteous and displayed confidence helping me decide which numbers to place where - I had several choices. Josh and Gary took great care to make sure the numbers were spaced well and anchored properly. Josh spray painted a plaque for the front of the house before adding the numbers and the effect gives an architectural flair. The garage was a bit of a challenge trying to determine a place to display the numbers and Josh made a good suggestion to put them on the side of the door frame where they can be seen by anyone approaching.
Gary also assisted me in lifting some heavy items from my car - making far fewer trips than I would have done on my own. I give him kudos for his help in that respect.
Before leaving, I informed Josh of other projects I need to have done and discussing options with him - I plan to use Beaty's services again and do recommend others do the same.

"ok i instructed [member name removed] to go and pick out want style of fixtures and style of vanity she wanted and type of tube surround and the sink she wanted and the color of cabinets she wanted and if she wanted and type of cabinets that had glass doors or what ever she wanted. i had all the measurements with signature kitchen and bath and i told her to go there and meet with them to explore options i was providing very thoughtful customer service and i will even walk around the store with her and go item by item with her that is the customer service i provide"
"I usually don't respond. I feel like this women and her husband are being very unfair to me and my family. Frankly i am hurt by the failing grade. I contacted this person and discussed with her that for the 35 dollars which is 50% of the total coupon value its not something i usually can justify. She hesitated, and after a few moments i had a change of heart and felt i needed to help here. The work was very small and i expected nothing less; new weather striping, toilet wax rings, toilets didn't flush right, and closet lighting. I showed up on a saturday went out of my way and now this. I am shocked. I have hundreds of lead to follow and her understanding and patients would have been a nice gesture. Maybe even a phone call. To say: Hi, when can you put me on the schedule."
