This company took my deposit money and then only did half of the work. After giving months of excuses, she then stopped responding to my emails -- but never returned my remaining deposit or, more importantly, the $300 worth of fabric I had given to her. Also, the 2 Roman Shades that I did actually receive were poorly done. The seams were crooked and the shades did not lift correctly. It took me forever to choose a fabric and make the expensive purchase of it and this person essentially stole it from me.
Description of Work: Curtains and Roman Shades

The job took longer than expected, but through no fault of the company. It took us longer than expected to get the fabric we wanted. When it arrived, we decided we wanted all new foam for the recliner so it had to be ordered. Cora was extremely responsive to emails and I was able to pay online, 50% down when the job started and the remainder at the end.
Description of Work: I wanted a tall man's lazy boy recliner re-upholstered. I rocked my kids in it as babies and wanted to give it to my daughter as she was expecting. The chair looks great; everyone is extremely pleased.

She did an excellent job. While the quilt will never be "perfect" because it's too damaged, she restored it to the point where we can enjoy it (gently) and suggested that we take a look at it to find a section that could be salvaged as a baby blanket or other sentimental piece for my son. The work on the athletic patches was of excellent quality. Cora explained her process, gave me an estimate, and performed the work as described. She made a special effort to have the quilt ready for my son at Christmastime.
Description of Work: She restored an heirloom quilt and sewed on some athletic patches.

I met with Cora Campbell to show her the cushion that was being replaced and the shorts and we discussed details and options. Two days later I received an estimate by e-mail. The $91.90 estimate for the cushion included the zipper, high-density foam, and Dacron padding, along with the labor; I supplied the material and the piping. The $15 estimate for the shorts included labor and the elastic. I was told the items would be ready in 2 weeks and they were. The sewing and the fit were excellent on both items--exactly what I was hoping for.
Description of Work: Everlasting Threads (1) sewed a bench cushion for me, approximately 36" long, 14" wide, and 2.5" high, with piping and zipper; and (2) replaced the elastic waistband in a pair of exercise shorts.

Everlasting Threads came my home on 8/9, measure 3 windows in my kitchen windows and picked up the deposit check and material I wanted them to use. The owner wasn't available so she sent her son. She was going to double check to make sure that I had sent enough fabric for the entire job and get back to me. Until the end, we communicated exclusively via email: 8/8 EL to me: I’ll recalculate the fabric needed on Monday, when I return. 8/17 me to EL: Did I have enough fabric? Also, if there is enough fabric, I would also like to have a small valance on the door.. 8/20 EL to me: We are cutting your roman shades today, and yes there is enough fabric for the three windows. Can you send me the measurements for the valance? 8/30 me to EL: Just wondering what the status is on my shades. I need to get coverings up on the west side with all this heat! 9/3 EL to me: How does Friday morning look for delivery? 9/5 EL to me: We had some issues with the order before you today, and we didn’t quite get your shades finished. I’m sorry, but we’ll have to reschedule for Monday. I will deduct 10% of the total due to the delivery delay. I’m very sorry, things just didn’t go smoothly today. Let me know what time works for you on Monday. 9/5 me to EL: Thanks for letting me know. I do appreciate the 10% discount but considering how late you are with delivery that discount is really insufficient. Your bid said delivery would be in 10-14 days. My deposit check to you cleared my bank on 8/12 (I wrote it and delivered it on 8/9), which was 25 actual days ago – 19 business days. Monday does not work for me. Tuesday is the soonest I can do it and I would prefer you arrived at 8 AM rather than 9. I am excited to get the shades and hope that will work with your schedule. Please let me know ASAP. I tried for several more days to reschedule the installation, including one phone call. EL did not communicate with me any more after my last email message to her above. My last email to her: 9/7 me to EL: Hello again. Not sure why you aren’t responding to me, but I completely understand that you are busy and probably with much bigger – and more lucrative – jobs than mine. So, let’s do this, I will pick up the shades on Monday and do the install myself. I’m sure I can handle it. Thanks. I will bring my checkbook when I come in to pick up the shades so I can pay the balance in full as well. Imagine my surprise when I stopped by her office – she had not seen the email about coming by yet – and my material was sitting there with a check refunding my deposit. The fabric was completely intact. She had not pressed it or cut it out, she had not sewn anything, she had not done anything on my job even though she had been reporting to me over the month that she was working on it. The only reason I am not giving her an F is because she refunded my deposit in full without issue. She did point out to me this statement that is on the estimate: Everlasting Threads operates on a first in, first out policy and cannot guarantee specific completion dates. The completion time noted above has been determined from our schedule at the time of this estimate. I completely understand the reason for the statement on the estimate, however, she had been communicating with me for a month, telling me she was working on my shades - culminating in her trying to schedule an install...when she had not done one thing on the shades. If I had picked up completed shades on that day, her review would have been somewhere in the B range...but she did nothing. UPDATE in reply to Everlasting Threads response: The only expectation I had is that she was actually doing the work that she was telling me she was doing...and she was not. If she had been honest and told me of her workload rather than telling me she was working on my job when she wasn't, then we wouldn't have had the problems we had.
Description of Work: Nothing, she did nothing. She was supposed to sew some roman shades for me.

Response from Everlasting Threads
First and foremost; Everlasting Threads did not do any work for [member name removed] by our own choice. I am confused how a review like this gets posted when we chose not to do business with [member name removed] and refunded her deposit in full. We accepted [member name removed] deposit and put her on the schedule to sew custom roman shades. Everlasting Threads operate on a first in, first out basis and we do not guarantee completion dates but we do offer our clients an estimated completion date. There were several issues with [member name removed] order; such as the material she supplied were older shower curtains that came to us folded and wrinkled. As they were heavy cotton, they took half a day to press flat. Also, there was an addition to [member name removed] order of a valance, and a delay in receiving those measurements. We do not begin work on a project until we receive all fabric and information required to complete the project. Over a three day weekend, while we were closed, we received several emails and voice mails from [member name removed] that grew increasingly more dramatic and hostile. When I arrived at the office Monday morning and reviewed these emails and phone messages, I made the decision to refund [member name removed] her deposit in full and return her material to her uncut. The review [member name removed] chose to leave Everlasting Threads here on Angie's List is an inaccurate account of our dealings together and demonstrates to me that I made the right decision in refunding her deposit, returning her fabric uncut, and choosing not to do business with her. We are a small family owned company who values the relationships we develop with our clients on a daily basis. Our motto is to treat all of our clients like family and we have clients who have been with us since we opened in 2007. Unfortunately, [member name removed] had unrealistic expectations on how and when we should respond to voice mails and emails. We wish her the best in finding another sewing company that is a better fit for her and her future projects.

I spent an afternoon calling different shops to get both time and cost estimates on the embroidery I needed. Was getting nervous about whether I would find someone, when I received a text message from Everlasting Threads. They were responding to the message I had left with an estimate. The method of communication surprised me, but it was the most efficient method to reach me. Everlasting Threads will be my first call when I need these services in the future.
Description of Work: They came through for me when I had a last minute embroidery job on some prizes for a charity fundraiser. They were the only business who were responsive, reasonable, and very nice to do business with. And they did a beautiful job! I loved their work!
