Knight Heating & Air Conditioning

We were long-time customers of Knight having been Royal Maintenance Program subscribers for several years with our 14 year old, high efficiency furnace. From time to time they have said we needed repairs, some expensive. We paid the bills thinking the costs were legitimate. At the most recent visit (October 2020) one of their technicians came for a regular maintenance visit and said he had discovered a carbon monoxide leak and had to shut our H/Vac system down for safety reasons. He advised that our furnace was so old (14 years) that tracking down the leak would be very expensive and subsequent repairs would cost nearly as much as a new system. He recommended (several times) that their sales office contact us for a bid on a replacement furnace. I was suspicious and called another respected company in Springfield. After a lengthy inspection they said there was a small, intermittent carbon monoxide detection that seemed to be coming from an exhaust pipe with a comprised seal but they couldn't be certain that the heat exchanger wasn't leaking as well. Since that would require removing and replacing the exchanger they checked with the manufacturer and found that it had a lifetime warranty. This meant we could get a brand new exchanger for the price of the labor to install it. Final result was that it ended up costing us a few hundred dollars instead of many thousands that we would have spent on a new system if we had followed the tech's advice. This experience has made me question every service Knight ever performed for us and in the future we will be doing business elsewhere.

Very thorough inspection prior to presenting an estimate. They were in the attic to inspect the return ducting, under the house to inspect supply ducts, and everything in between. Written estimate provided several options and was very easy to read and understand. Cost of service shown here is after City Utility rebates ($950) and Federal Tax Credits ($450).

Knight sent Jeff, I believe, out to do a quote on a new furnace and AC. At that point they disconnected our old unit so we had no AC or heating. We were furious. They eventually came back a few days later with new equipment and we told them we were not happy and to please reconnect the system and we were not going to buy equipment from them after having disconnected our system without our knowledge or consent. They said no you cannot do that, you signed a contract. We had another HVAC vendor look at the contract who said no, the contract was not valid because Knight did not sign it. So we told them their contract was invalid and they finally reconnected our system begrudgingly after several phone calls complaining about the issue to Knight. They picked up their equipment. We vowed never to use them again after that experience.

Went well, showed up on time and very professional. they were a second opinion to another HVAC company that said I needed a complete new ac and heater! knight heating and air replaced 1 part and it was fixed!

According to our agent the individual arrived on time and was very pleasant to work with. I spoke with him by phone during the inspection process. He explained the problem, what needed to be done to fix it and provided a verbal rough estimate of repairs. He indicated that until initial repairs were made no further evaluation of the system could be made. We requested the seller to make the repairs so I can not comment on pricing or workmanship at this time. We will definitely call them again for routine annual service.

From the meeting with Dan to the install completion everyone was very professional and the work area was cleaned when finished. All questions answered before installation. Made process very easy. Highly recommended.

I would give them a triple A rating if there is such a thing. They are very good.

We got bids and talked to 4 different companies. We discovered that one comparable bid was for lesser units and two were just not impressive in giving information when we asked questions. Knight had the right units at the right price and a well known Carrier brand. Their technicians were very courteous and kept everything nice and neat. The unit did have a problem about 2 weeks after installation and he was here in 45 minutes and fixed the problem quickly. Also, their annual contract for checking the units was less than some of the others.

There were some problems with the install. So, you might ask why I gave them the highest ratings? While it is easy to get high ratings when everything goes right, I think the real test of a company is how they handle the situation when everything doesn't go right. This company spent a tremendous amount of time and labor resources to make sure that our system was operating correctly. They were very concerned that the system be correct and that I was satisfied with their instal. In the end we got a great new system that is working perfectly. By the way, the final price was exactly the price of their bid, even though there was some equipment needed that was not in the original bid.

The guys who came in were awesome. They were neat and clean and great to talk to. They put in a great system and came back a couple weeks later to make sure everything was working fine. We were really impressed. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

They were great. They replaced the furnace and the air conditioner. They were very professional and they just did a great job. They were able to come in and take out the old furnace and air conditioner and replace them both within the same day!

Repair man showed up on time and even waited for me to get home from the office. He was courteous and went right to work. Diagnosed the problem in five minutes. We had a clogged condenser drain and and fresh air intake due to snow.

Great.  Prompt & diagnosed problem & repaired furnace quickly.
