Scott Kniese, the owner, was disabled with a back problem. The work was done by his father, a mason. The estimate Scott gave me, which was honored by his father, was considerably lower than other estimates I received. The estimate Scott's father provided for the additional caulking and cement work was less than half of that provided by another A-rated Angie's List contractor. The work was professionally, even perfectly done. My wife and I were very pleased. I checked N/A on 'Punctuality' because the work was delayed for a few months pending Scott's surgery and recovery, but once it was settled that his father would do the work, the job was completed as speedily as weather permitted.

That was really a great deal as I didn't need to hire someone to do a lot of masonry work but I just need some minor patch ups here and there. The guy came out and did some minor masonry work around the house which proved to be very beneficial. I was getting some water into the basement and he took care of that. He did some work at the front of the garage and it was very nicely done. He was very punctual and came out really right away maybe within a week from when I purchased the big deal. Overall I think they were very good and I was very happy I had joined Angie's list so I would access to theses guys because you never know what you are going to get when you look in the yellow pages.

After buying the Big Deal I was contacted by the owner, Scott Knese, to schedule a time to do the estimate.  He showed up on time to do the estimate and he emailed it to me a few days later.

When I contacted him to schedule the work he said that was currently working on a project and would get in touch with me in the "over the next few weeks."  He called me once when I was out of town to say that he could do the work the coming weekend which I couldn't do since I was out of town.  After returning I contacted him to see if I could get a date since fall was approaching and he said that he had another opening.

The work was done by one of his employees and was satisfactory.  The only issue being some mortar on the painted foundation of the house.  The workman let me know when the work was complete and they would come back to do the cleanup in a couple days.  No one was here when they came to cleanup but it was not very thorough. There was a substantial amount of debris left around the work area and the mortar was not cleaned up off of the painted concrete next to where the work was done.

When I received the bill I was surprised because it was the exact same as the estimate.  The estimate had a quantity column next to each task which I assumed was the labor hours.  When I questioned what the quantity column meant he responded that it was "hrs, mobilization, profit and overhead" and he assured me that the bill was correct.  Next I asked for an itemized bill which he sent me.  It turns out that I was over billed for hours and only credited $200 for the Big Deal while it should have been $300.  When I told him that I had been here the entire time the tuckpointing work was being done and that the credit was incorrect he fixed the bill with the following explanation

"The person who takes care of the billing and timecards accidentally had you mixed up with another Jeremy and had [the workman] down for 8 hrs on your job instead of 6.5.  She also typed in the wrong Angie's List code therefor giving you the wrong discount"

The front of my home has some decorative brick work.  Over time, the structure deteriorated and needed to be replaced. I purchased a Big Deal with SRK.  Scott contacted me pretty quickly.  He came out examined the site and sent me an estimate.  In the discussions, Scott advised the footer/foundation needed to be mud jacked or replaced. Since that would have added  a cost I wasn't prepared for, we discussed another option.    I decided to remove the brick, since it was just decorative and not affecting the structure.
SRK did a great job removing the brick, repairing the site and clearing the site.  I love it, it looks great, I wish I would have done this sooner.
I would definitely use this company again and I have no problem recommending them.

Scott, was very responsive - even for a small job. Arrived on time and  completed job as promised. Knowledgeable and conscientious.

They made an effort to do the work when I wanted.  It looks nice.  Time will tell if it holds up to weather, but that is true for any tuck pointing.

Our older 1950's home had some issues with the brick chimney.  We had it tuckpointed 10 years ago, but it was now loosing mortar and some of the bricks were flaking.
We called Scott for an estimate.  He was the only one out of three companies that actually showed up.
His specialty is masonry.
His estimate was very reasonable.
The biggest challenge he had was trying to match our brick (which is not made anymore) and the mortar.
They did the demo and rebuild in one day.  We were so impressed at how quickly he got the job completed.  There were four men on the job site!   The last company that did the tuckpointing took several days because the crew consisted of one man.
He came back a couple of days later to wash the brick and waterproof.
The new part of the chimney is beautiful.  We believe the difference in mortar color will adjust with some weathering.
We were extremely impressed with the professionalism and politeness of this young man.
He is the first and only contactor who has taken his shoes off before he came into my house!!!!

We were done with the 1950s pink and peach bathroom in the house we purchased several several years ago.  We received quotes from a couple of companies, but SRK's was the easiest and the fairest to work with (we didn't need a design, nor to pay for pre-consulting for our 4' x 7' bathroom).  Scott, the owner of SRK, worked closely with us to ensure he understood our needs before starting, and to improve upon our ideas.
I gutted the bathroom prior to SRK starting the work (except for an area behind the old tile that I paid SRK to demo).
Scott performed most of the work with one assistant.  Scott took the work seriously and was always professional.  He was meticulous about details, and I don't think he would have done the work any differently if he was working on his own home.  I'm still amazed by the lengths that Scott went to when installing the tile on the wall to hide the lack of plum and make the lines look right.
The work took a little longer than expected, but the results made it worth it.  I appreciate the work and feel good about it every time I look into or have a reason to be in the bathroom.
