I was cautious after reading the 7/19/20 review. However, I found these guys to be down-to-earth people who did a professional, high-quality job. My home has original 50 year old pine floors that had been covered by carpeting for 30 years, had pee stains from cats, and far worse, a jagged 15"x6" hole in the middle of the kitchen-to-dining room floor that had served as a cold air return for the peninsula counter placed above it. The peninsula also hid another 3 feet of badly joined boards. They brought in their expert, who 'laced' in new boards, invisibly. The sanding, staining, and polyurethane revealed a new, rich floor that we had hoped would be there.

Poorly. The tools that were used to install the wood planks were faulty and the people doing the installation weren't experienced. That resulted in chipping wood after installation. The thresholds, flush mounts and stair nose NEVER got completed... even after several attempts (and months) to get him here to do them. The trim along the floors were reinstalled terribly and the nail holes weren't filled. That's what I get for paying before the job is totally finished!! I need to hire another flooring company to finish the work.

A first class operation in every way. This family company has decades of experience and our beautiful floors are proof of that! Professional, fairly priced, friendly, punctual, very fast tear out, refinish and installation. They amazingly laced in new hardwood where our refrigerator filter had leaked and you cannot tell the new from the existing hardwood. Also have to mention that the reinstalled baseboards, which were all removed for the engineered flooring, looked as good or better than when they started. The job couldn't be any better than this. Our home sold quickly with "wow factor" of our upgraded flooring. I highly recommend John and his family!

John and his team sanded, stained, and sealed 50+ year old original white/red oak flooring in my entire second floor and stairway. It turned out beautifully. They were able to perfectly match the color of my main floor hardwood of the same type done years ago. No one would know that the floors were stained/refinished 10 years apart. Their bid came in at a substantial discount to others, and this is including furniture moving, which others would not do. I had them patch an area that needed new wood to eliminate ugly peg inserts that were very concentrated in one spot. You would never know it was patched. The gentleman doing the work replaced pegs correctly at the butt ends of the planks to make it look original. John also gave me great advice about waiting to put rugs down (a full week after the last coat of poly applied). I might have preferred them to use three full coats of poly rather than two, but John assured me that two coats gives a better look, and doesn't turn out cloudy like three coats sometimes will. If there are any wear spots in the future in a reasonable time frame, he assured me he would come out again and put more poly down. I trust his judgement and experience. We went with a Golden Oak stain, and it's a timeless medium tone look for a traditional style house. Great job.

This project went extremely well.  John and his family were punctual, professional, and very knowledgeable with hardwood floors.  They were able to trap the majority of the dust created from sanding (as promised).  They also were thorough with details that made the project look complete, such as filling in the tack strip holes, laying thresholds, and scraping the old stain from the corners.  Their patch looks great and completely unnoticeable.  I received a couple quotes, and JW was the lowest of the bids.  JW hardwoods provided a great service at a great price.  I highly recommend this company.

The staff are pleasant individuals and are very capable at installing the floor but have quality issues on their sanding and staining.
On the plus side, John took the time to explain the process and even showed me a couple completed projects. John is a trust worthy person through the sales and installation process. It is a small company and their price point is very good.
My main concerns were the quality of the sanding of the flooring. There are far too many visible circular sand patterns. I made the mistake of making the final payment believing the company would stand by their work. After numerous attempts to have the staff come back and address the sanding issues they did not return calls. I gave the company sufficient time to follow up on an expensive project and they opted to take the money and not address the sanding quality issues.

John was excellent to work with. He removed all the old carpet and hauled it away. He then prepared the under-laying floor and installed unfinished 3/4 inch oak hardwood floors in the rooms listed above. His installation is excellent, the floor is still very tight and solid, even 5 1/2 years later. His trim work around the fireplace hearth is wonderful. The seams are still flawless.
He then sanded the floors and offered us a couple of choices of stain color. We chose the medium and quot;oakand quot; color and he stained and finished the floors. When we first saw the finished floors we were almost speachless. They really changed the home in a very beautiful way. We still get compliments almost every time we have friends and family in our home. Interestingly, one of the items that gets the most positive comments are the wood floor vents he installed which are stained to match the rest of the floor.
We have recommended John to several friends, all of whom have been happy with his work and his value. His price was very competitive, we will certainly use him again if we have hardwood floor needs.

JOHN WAS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH IN ALL RESPECTS. HE DELIVERED THE WOOD TO BE INSTALLED ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE OF THE START OF THE JOB, TO ALLOW IT TO CURE BEFORE HE BEGAN WORKING WITH IT. POST-INSTALLATION FOLLOW-UP COULD BE HANDLED A LITTLE BETTER (A LITTLE MORE PROMPT IN RETURNING PHONE CALLS) OVERALL, MY EXPERIENCE WAS VERY GOOD.
