JT Contracting

Worst experience I've ever had. Completely unprofessional, never on time and when they did show up it was only for a few hours. A brief overview of the countless problems: Backer board was improperly installed and mortar was improperly mixed (too wet) so the tiles kept popping up after being laid, Grout was the wrong color (told them the specific color to use) so it didn't match the tile; also mixed improperly resulting in various shades of pink (tile was brown/tan) across the floor. Many tiles were cut too short around the walls and cabinets leaving too much space; had to get additional quarter-round to hide the space, different spacers were used...in some cases, no spacers...resulting in uneven spacing throughout, many tiles were set unleveled so tiles stick up higher than others, door jams cut too high; two doors and jams needed to be completely replaced, toilet was improperly reinstalled-and that's a short list of all the problems. This whole affair started on June 7th. During nearly a three-month period, they only spent 8 days-some of which were only partial days-on the job. Having lived through missed deadlines, shoddy work, and constant excuses I asked them to stop doing any additional work and to provide a refund. Had lost complete confidence that they knew what they were doing. I had to hire another contractor to repair the job, Creative Design Interiors. Their recommendation was to completely redo the floor, but after more than 8 weeks of dealing with JT, I couldn't think of starting from scratch. Creative Design Interiors is a top-notch company. They completely saved the day. It took them less than a week to fix what took JT nearly three-months to ruin. Can't say enough about Creative Design Interiors. I would highly recommend this company .... five stars. I didn't think it was possible to fix the floor. While not perfect, they turned lemons into lemonade. I now have a livable, presentable kitchen. Holding my breath, hoping the tiles don't pop up down the road because they were improperly installed by JT. Meanwhile, I am suing JT Contracting for a full refund. I had asked him on several occasions what he felt was fair in terms of fixing the mess. He never offered a solution and just kept stalling. There are five reports on JT Contracting on the BBB site. I should have gone there first before signing them on ... hoping by posting this, I'll help someone else avoid having the same nightmare. Having Creative Design Interiors do additional remodeling work. Very refreshing to work with a true professional.

I've already paid $52,000 to them and they devastated my home. Every time they came to the home they ruined things and I had to pay them more money, so I ordered them off my property. They've only done $20,000 worth of work and won't refund me my money. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

WORKMANSHIP WAS FINE WHEN THE WORK WAS ACTUALLY DONE. THE JOB WAS SUPPOSED TO BE COMPLETED ON 12/6/2006. THE JOB STILL IS NOT COMPLETE. THE CONTRACTOR DOES NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS. HE USES THE SAME EXCUSES EVERY TIME. USED VERY CHEAP MATERIAL. DID NOT CLEAN UP CONSTRUCTION MESS VERY WELL. VERY RESPONSIVE WHILE HE STILL WAS GETTING CHECKS. DOES NOT ESTIMATE JOB VERY WELL AND SHORTS HIMSELF TIME ON COMPLETION THUS MAKING COST OVERRUNS.
