I'm neither stupid nor new to using the Internet. My wife and I spent a GREAT deal of time on research as to the value of her items. There were over 3,000 individual pieces and groupings. Mr. Soulis' two online auctions of our goods brought OVER FOUR TIMES ANY VALUE WE COULD ESTABLISH ON THE INTERNET FOR THESE ITEMS. He sold our goods across three continents, using an impressively well-done and professional presentation on line. We have a copy of the catalog that appeared on the website, complete with realized prices. His crew of up to five people came to our home, transported everything to his site in Lee's Summit, photographed them, wrote them up, and put them on his website. Our only involvement from that point was to sit at his facility for two afternoons to show the gun collection, as he isn't licensed to take possession of firearms. All but about five percent of the auction went. He then took the remainder and either sold it at auctions on site, or, in the case of the guns, forwarded them to a local gun shop. AS OF THIS WRITING, THE ONLY UNSOLD ITEM FROM THE ENTIRE OFFERING IS ONE BULLDOG PISTOL IN POOR CONDITION FROM THE EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY THAT IS WORTH PERHAPS TWENTY DOLLARS. Out of all the items they took from our home, there are two that are unaccounted for. I have no idea why the other two reviews are so negative. I note they're from several years ago, and perhaps Mr. Soulis has upgraded his operation since then. All I know is that we expected to net the price of a new Toyota Corolla from the two sales, and received the price of a new Porsche Carrera Cabriolet. IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING OF REAL VALUE TO SELL, we unhesitatingly recommend Mr. Soulis' services. That's important, because a large proportion of the high-end sales were to buyers overseas.
Description of Work: My wife brought a large number of inherited collectibles, guns, books, Californiana, antiques, and paintings done by her parents to our marriage. After finally getting a complete inventory and spending almost two years on the internet trying to get some sort of valuation of the pieces, we chose Mr. Soulis' firm to hold an internet auction last year. This year, we found another collection of Dresden Christmas ornaments that she wanted to sell, and had Mr. Soulis conduct a second auction.

HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE !!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Dirk Soulis organized an auction for me after my husband passed away. He was difficult to remain in touch with him. He came to my home and packed up for 1 day and did not get finished. He was to come back and get the rest. He NEVER made it back. I called him multiple times, he never made it. I then noticed that on his website that he stated that " many of the higher end items that were advertised would not be in the sale. The owner changed her mind." That was utterly not true. He was just too overbooked to make it back. As a result of the posting on his website, no one attended the sale and they almost literally gave the items away. Additionally, he had antique Christmas items that were in the sale, and he threw away the original boxes they were in. Anyone that deals with collectibles knows that the original box doubles or triples the price. It was a total disaster. I can not put into words my hurt and disappointment !!!!!!

Contacted Dirk Solis in August of 2010 and set up to bring some antique pieces to his location in Lone Jack Mo. We delivered the items, A canopy Bed with the canopy frame made out of cherry wood circa 1700's This piece had the rope holes for the ropes to hold & tighten the custom made matress, which was included ( Where the term "sleep tight" comes from} A Fireplace Bench circa 1800's that was in good condition all pegged no nails. An old wall clock circa 1800's with painted face good condition but did not work but could probably be fixed. A slide off top two piece desk in good condition. He had done a largeestate sale for my wife's Father and he was satisfied so we thought he would treat us fairly. He told us he would put the pieces in a sale in November. We waited until after the Holidays and called him in January. I felt he didn't even know who I was and what I was talking about but finally he said he would put the items in a sale in February. We waited until the middle of March to call him and I had my wife do it as I felt I might lose my temper. He told my wife that he would send her the check. Two weeks later we received the check for $525.00. for everything. We were told by people who knew Antiques that the bed alone was worth between $3000 to 4000 and the Fireplace bench I had seen a similar one in an Antique store for $1200. I did not expect to get that much but I certainly didn't think $250 for the bed and $150 for the bench was even close to being fair. Yes maybe in hindsight we should have put minimums on them but he made no suggestion of that and I thought we would get a fair price less his %25 commission. I get the impression that all he wants to do is the big sales and I understand that but I feel that he should let you know if he really doesn't want to handle your business.
Description of Work: Contacted and setup with Dirk Solis to sell some nice antiques for us. He stated he would include them in one of his sales.
