Joe's Painting and Handyman

DO NOT USE THIS GUY!  Shame on me for not checking references.  Horrible, sloppy work! Very, very little caulk work performed - no "nail-pop" repair.  Painted over blistered paint without scraping off old paint.  Overspray on all gutters.  Gutters replaced incorrectly.  Paint on deck furniture, broken flowerpots...did not feel the need to let me know,  I had to discover it after the work was completed.  I Had to tell his helper how to repair the wood rot...he didn't seem to have a clue...and the work was awful.  Now that it is summer, the terrible job is really  apparent.  Previous color of house is showing through in many places...paint on shingles.  Single coat on exterior trim, brush strokes clearly visible all over.  Brush marks on back doors...he used a brush to apply the paint on both metal exterior doors...brush strokes everywhere...paint on door knobs...overspray on windows and window trim.  They would show up in the morning to paint when the house was still wet...as the paint dried, surfactant would attempt to evaporate but instead would run down the side of the house because of the moisture underneath (I spoke with a Home Depot representative after multiple attempts to convince Joe that something was wrong with the application).  Joe's response was, "I only know one way to paint a house".  I made the mistake of not verifying the paint they were using was the brand I requested...when I asked for the left over paint,  they left a 5 gallon bucket  and the label was painted over...i washed the paint off the label and it was some cheap off brand.  Joe denies using a different brand than that which I requested and I cannot prove it unless I send it to a lab.  Lesson learned.  Check references and make sure they are using the actual paint you are paying for.  DO NOT USE JOE! I shouldn't have to follow someone around the entire time they are here and make sure they are doing their job...for "20 years" of stated experience, I expected better.  In fact Joe was only present to spray...his helper did the rest of the work unsupervised...HORRIBLE, SLOPPY, UNPROFESSIONAL!!!
