HOUSE OF VACUUMS LIBERTY

Description of Work: My Hoover carpet shampooer did not work (suction the water out of the carpet) the second time I tried to use it, 8 months after purchasing it. The shampooer had a one year warranty from Hoover. My husband looked at it and thought that it could be the gasket. As the product is under warranty, we decided to call Hoover. The customer service representative had me perform some tests on the carpet shampooer: flipping it over and removing/replacing various machine parts and then checking the motor to see if air was flowing, etc. She told me to take it to one of Hoover's service centers for repair and that the closest one for me would be HOUSE OF VACUUMS & SEWING. My husband and I dropped the carpet shampooer off on 12/31/2011. My husband wrote down what problems we were experiencing with the carpet shampooer and signed it. Towards the end of January, I called to ask if the shampooer was fixed and ready to be picked up. The representative for HOUSE OF VACUUMS did not know the status but said that she would find out and call me back. Another couple of days went by and I called again. This time I was told that the carpet shampooer was ready to be picked up. My husband and I went to get it from HOUSE OF VACUUMS, a designated Hoover repair service center. We were told it would cost $90.00. I asked why as the shampooer is under warranty. I was told that it took the repair person four hours to clean sludge out of the machine and this was for labor costs. I was told that there was nothing mechanically wrong with the carpet shampooer, which I had used once. "I was in shock as I had not received a phone call providing me with an estimate. I did not give permission for this type of work to be performed." I felt victimized as now I
