 + -1 moreWe have a grandfather clock that has not worked for approx. 7 years. Scott, from the clock shop, came to our home to perform a service call for a set price of $90. He examined the clock, showed me how it had worn, advised that the kit was good for about 20 years (clock was built from a kit nearly 35 years ago), and that he might not be able to get it working again. He gave me a price for a new clockworks kit and installation - $300. We asked him to order the new kit and to install it when it arrived. Scott was back one week later with the new kit, he installed it and the clock works beautifully - we're very happy to have it running again.
Description of Work: Our 35 year old, home-built grandfather clock was not working - would not chime. Clock was examined and we were advised the clockworks kit was built for a 20 year service life. Scott, from the clock shop, said a new kit could be purchased for $240 plus a $60/hour labor charge. We ordered the replacement kit; it was installed one week later. Scott took the pendulum from our clock to adjust the new clock kit in the shop before installing it in our home.

 + -1 moreWE WERE TREATED WELL BUT WE WERE MORE IMPRESSED WITH THE STORE OWNER'S LOVE OF HIS WORK AND CLOCKS.
Description of Work: WORKED ON OUR $300 CLOCK. HAD IT DONE IN NO TIME AND PLACED MORE APPROPRIATE MECHANISMS FOR A CLOCK THAT SIZE. CLEARLY LOVED WHAT THEY DID AND TOOK PRIDE IN THEIR WORK. 3 PEOPLE CAME AND WENT WITH CLOCKS IN HAND DURING THE TIME WE WERE THERE.
