Not satisfied with this, I contacted Kyle from Aspen who came out and looked at the roof on his own. He identified additional damage on the front of our roof, marked it with chalk, and took pictures. He emailed the pictures to the claims adjuster, who then came out and re-inspected with the roof with Kyle. After the re-inspection, the claims adjuster agreed to cover the front of our roof. We agreed to have Aspen do the work due to Kyle's help in getting the claims adjuster to cover all roof damage. We agreed to pay extra to replace the wood decking underneath the shingles, as the wood was noticeably soft.
Aspen's crew came out on the agreed date, though they were several hours late due to a failed alternator on their work truck. Aspen's crew worked until dark to complete half of the roof, due to the later start, and then finished up the roof the following day. Aspen used a dumpster placed in our driveway to manage all roof waste. Several representatives from Aspen were present throughout the workdays as the crew worked, and the crew manager was helpful in explaining the work that was being performed. After the work was completed, the crew cleaned the scraps in the yard around the house, and then used a leaf blower and magnet to finish.
One issue that occurred during the roof work was a piece of wood and tool being dropped while the roof wood decking was off. This caused two holes to appear on our living room and kitchen ceiling. Aspen sent out a two man plaster crew the following day who repaired, sanded, and painted the damaged areas. The kitchen ceiling looks like there was no damaged at all. The living room ceiling spot can be picked out due to a slight paint difference.
Overall, we were satisfied with the work, even with the hiccups. We thought the price was more than fair, and Aspen guaranteed all materials and labor with a lifetime warranty.
"Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate your business!"

- They had ample supply of materials
- They would start the job in 2 weeks
- Though they used contractors to perform the work, they assured us someone from Aspen would be on the job site to inspect the work and insure the installation was done correctly
- We received a call 2 1/2 weeks after signing the contract that they had run out of materials and they weren't sure when another shipment would arrive. Materials were delivered 4 weeks after contract signing and work began 2 weeks afterward. 6 weeks after signing not the promised 2 weeks.
- The work was scheduled to begin on 7/14/11 - the crew was a NO CALL/NO SHOW. That evening after a call to the manager Mike Dolan I was promised they would start on 7/18/11 first thing in the morning - the crew was a NO CALL/NO SHOW. After another call to Mike Dolan and multiple excuses I was promised they would start first thing on 7/19/11. The crew showed up at noon.
- The crew started work but was sloppy and unprofessional in every aspect of the job. Plants and air conditioning units weren't covered, sections of the roof were left uncovered during passing rain showers, debris was spread over sections of the yard and not cleaned up.
- No one from Aspen was on the job site inspecting the work or managing the job.
- The crew ran out of materials to complete the roof leaving one of the bay windows incomplete. They packed up all of their equipment on 7/21/11 and left. After more calls to Mike Dolan he sent his production manager Robert to inspect the roof. Robert told my wife the only thing left to complete the job was the bay window and "I don't want any more complaints from you". This invoked another call to Mike Dolan and we scheduled a time on 7/23/11 to inspect the roof together.
- During the inspection we discovered several errors including crooked ridge lines and missing flashing
- The contracted crew came back on 7/23/11 at 4pm to repair the errors. Again, unsupervised by anyone from Aspen. In the process they damaged newly installed shingles
- One week later after a heavy rain we notice a leak in our bedroom
- This prompted another call to Mike Dolan.
- As I write this we are now on our 3rd contractor sent by Aspen to repair the errors and fix the leak. We hope the work will be completed today but have no confidence based on our experience to date.
"We apologize for your negative experience with Aspen. Aspen has since taken every opportunity possible to ensure that high standards of communication and punctuality are being met, in order to provide high-quality finished projects."
