I contacted About Time Home Improvement and talked to owner Dave Seno about building a deck for me. This company was recomended to me by a local lumber yard in Belton. I visited with Dave on the phone and told him what i was wanting done. Dave came to my home and seen were i was wanting the deck built and we decided on what was to be done. I told Dave a number of times i did not care how long the job took,i just wanted a really nice quality deck built with tight joints. I really like Dave and his crew, they came out and built the deck in the 12ft by16ft size with stairs as we agreed on. It would take a good deal of writing to discuss all of what is not right with this deck, part of it is just they seemed to be in to big of a hurry to get the job done right. Many of the miter joints are so far off its a embarrassment. One of my stair hand rails needs to be totally redone. There is a gap of three quarters of a inch in one of the rim joices where it is suppose to meet the other rim joice with no gap. I paid 2750.00 dollars, including materials for this deck. I stressed to Dave that i was picky, and that i wanted a nice deck that i could be proud of. All i wanted to do was stain the deck after the wood dried out. In summary i should have made sure that this company would come back out, and fix what needs redone to make it right. And to make it the deck it was suppose to be. It may cost me another 250.00 for lumber and 150.00 labor to fix the problems come this spring of 2013. I will only use Angie's List references from now on. I should not have to be working on a deck that i just paid 2750.00 to be professionally built. All i should be doing is the staining work.
