"The contract was signed on 9/10/2013 after 5 revisions. The homeowner was informed at signing that his project would begin within 2 to 3 weeks. We also stated that the construction process would start that fall and would continue until winter weather arrived and the project would finish up the following spring. We shut down the project in Mid- November due to winter and came back the following spring and completed prior to Memorial Day 2014 minus a couple of small items to finish. From the start of the project, Turf Designers experienced numerous delays due to changes to the project. Turf Designers worked diligently to accommodate the requests of the homeowner but he insisted on adding/changing nearly every aspect of the project. (Some changes can happen on a project this size) The homeowner also had other contractors as well working at the house (new stucco and stone veneer , all new windows and doors, painting the whole outside of the house, new security lights and cameras installed) so Turf Designers had to work around and change our install scheduling to accommodate other contractor needs. The Project was also constantly disrupted by the homeowner and the install crew was constantly asked to change/add items that were not agreed upon stating “Ben said he would do it.” Due to the length of decision making/changes by the customer in regards to lay-out of pergola, column design, paver style and layout, kitchen counter top design, water feature layout, wall size, what to stone veneer, many electrical add-ons, all landscape bushes changed completely from first design and irrigation changes, we experienced additional delays to the project. Bull Grill: We installed a Bull Grill that is covered under the manufactures warranty. (The grill did not heat up to the desired temperature) Turf Designers is only the installer and we had to go through Bull Grills to get the parts. First we installed new parts that did not correct the original grill. The homeowner called Bull Grill directly and a new grill was sent to the homeowner. Turf Designers came back and took out the old grill and installed the second grill and it worked great. The homeowner stated that the first grill was a demo unit and in fact that is not the case. I talked to the representative from Bull Grills who talked to the homeowner and he told me that the homeowner did not follow the reasoning behind the first grills problem. Bull Grills has never made demo grills before. It was simply a bad unit that needed to be replaced. I met with the homeowner in September of 2014 at which time he expressed that he was happy with the project and I agreed to a 1 year warranty. At that time the homeowner had one final payment due but I waived the final payment just to complete the project and try to make this homeowner happy. At the completion of this project we estimate that our company is at a loss of approximately $15 to $20k due to the additional work and time added/changed, but we charged it off. I was very surprised to hear this response from the homeowner after our meeting in September. Since finding out about this issue, I have made several attempts via phone and email to contact the homeowner with no response. At this point in time I do not feel that there will ever be a resolution for this customer. Note: The homeowner will have a 1 year warranty for this project. This project was completed in its entirety as per our contract.
