The Hern Group

Amazing team who helped me with a recent home purchase! Very knowledgable, caring and professional. They are definitely my go to when it comes to real estate!

We used James Hern and Cole Coombs of the Hern Group, to both sell our home of 23 years, and build and buy our townhome in Arbor Ridge in De Soto, Ks. Things went well until we signed the contract, after that, things went downhill ..total lack of professionalism would be a re-occurring theme. I reached a point of walking away from our deposit and pulling my house off the market because of his antics and lack of respect. Cole offered a few thousand dollars towards closing cost on the townhome, so we stayed the course. In retrospect, that was as big of a mistake as choosing him initially. It became apparent that our house was sold under value, so Cole could secure his double commission on the townhome. We later found out, through public court records, that he was being taken to court for non-payment by two separate companies. Fast forward to the building of the townhome. The one being built isn’t what we had thought we were getting, although the floor plan is correct, the main structure is totally different. We were told that we had no say so in how our brand new townhome would look, only the layout of the floorplan. I’d caution others to steer clear, if our house was an extremely difficult sale for them, I doubt that they have the resources to effectively market and sell other homes in the area. I know Cole says he spends most of his time dealing with rental houses, so perhaps that’s why he encountered such difficulties in an actual sale of a home.

Selling - communication was extremely poor.  It felt like we were not represented.  Several times we electronically received paperwork to sign and it didn't even have the correct names on it.  We would have to tell them - the paperwork was incorrect.
Buying - communication was better.  But also questionable on how much we were represented.
After closing on both houses, we have yet to receive even a thank you call or note.

My husband and I relocated to Lee's Summit and were referred to the Hern Group by several KW agents in our previous city. We were told they were the best of the best and the Hern Group proved this to be true! We had some interaction with each member of the Group but worked mainly with Paula Voss. She was absolutely wonderful! Being new to the area she helped us in finding the right location based on our lifestyle, needs and wants. She immediately had a list ready to go and a game plan. We know we were difficult buyers who weren't willing to settle and we couldn't have asked for a better agent to represent us! She was very understanding, not wanting us to move forward until we felt comfortable and fought during negotiations for what was in OUR best interest. You can really tell she loves what she does and gives everything she has to it!
