We negotiated a price to have scratches and polyurethane restored on the tops of 5 matching living room tables. I picked out 2 samples of stain that closely matched the bottom platform of each piece. He discussed having different color on the tops of and bottom. I was against that. He brought back a stain that was totally different. I hated it. Never did he mention trying to lightly sand without getting into the stain and redoing the polyurethane. The only supplies he bought with the $200 I gave him through cash app was the quart of stain, sand paper, and two type of tools to do the job. No polyurethane. He said he would take that off his labor. Then he admitted to paying his and his girlfriend s phone bills and the cost of an uber to return to my house. He left a duffle bag containing his tools when he left to get supplies with my $200. I told him it was unacceptable using that stain. I didn t know he arrived with the woman in an uber. My son who lives next door saw them and came inside. It was explained what his intentions were with the stain. Then he said it would be another $75 per piece to do the bottom. He had quoted me $400 to fix the tops of all 5 pieces. My son said no which I agree and asked why he wouldn t sand without getting into the original stain and then polyurethane the tops. There was nothing wrong with the bottoms of the tables and he said no. My son told him that I would not pay him $175 each for the 5 tables and said to leave. He took the bag that has the two tools, sandpaper, and stain and left. They walked to the corner and left in the uber. My son told him that I would pay him for his time without knowing that I had given him the $200.
