Had Wes do a general inspection, as well as contractor for a gas  inspection.  Questions during and after the inspection were quickly answered - I emailed some random questions weeks after the inspection and I got a call back to answer my questions just hours later.  Given some potential structural issues, it was very helpful to have a structural engineer to look through everything and answer my random questions.

I served in the military for 30 years, so I am no stranger to buying/selling houses, i.e., I moved often. Before purchasing the house, I always employed the services of an inspector to determine current/potential problems of the property.
I have NEVER had a property inspected that matched the quality of HouseMaster/Wes Villhard.
Mr. Villhard had me act as his "shadow" during the entire inspection. He pointed out every shortcoming, as well as the positives. The inspection was more complete than any I had ever experienced. He missed nothing----roof, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, windows, floor, walls, doors, etc. EVERYTHING!!!
After the inspection, he emailed me an extensive report, with photos, of everything he found and that we had discussed. Shortly after the emailed report, I received the same information in a three-ring binder.
He was courteous, punctual, friendly, reasonably priced, thorough, and knowledgeable!
If you need a house inspection, I wouldn't employ anyone else. Call HouseMaster and ask for Wes Villhard.

HouseMaster performed our recent home inspection and radon test.  The inspector was punctual, professional, and very friendly. Since our appointment was early in the morning, I thought it was a nice touch that he showed up with coffee for everyone.  In terms of the style and quality of the service provided, although the inspector seemed competent and was very friendly, he did manage to overlook several things I've noticed since we've been living in the house.  For example, one of the water supplies to our washer has been leaking ever since we moved in along with an upstairs bathtub faucet.  In addition, I found the inspector to be a little too much of a salesman.  I say this meaning two things. First, it seemed like the inspector was trying very hard to sell me on why I should purchase this particular home; pouring on the compliments ever chance he got. Second, it seemed like for every issue he pointed out needing correction in the house, he would then follow up with some plug for a "buddy" who could fix it.  Also, after the inspection for several months I kept getting phone calls from a sales person trying to sell me a home alarm system.  In one of the voice messages, the person said he got my name from HouseMasters.

I hired HouseMaster to perform a home inspection and represent my best interests.  What I got was a home inspection where I felt like the home inspector was working more to benefit my Realtor and refer home repair business to his friends.  All in all, the experience was fine and I believe the inspector was knowledgeable and competent.  I just would have preferred someone who came across more like he was working for me...and not my Realtor or to sell other home services.

He arrived on time, and was very thorough in his work.  He took his time, wasn't rushed.  He found areas that needed to be brought up to the seller, we were impressed with the amount of detail involved in his report.  The report included photos of all the areas that needed work.  He was very professional and pleasant to work with.

He was very thorough. He answered all our questions at the time of the inspection and even later. He explained things we could do  to improve the home and things we should have done before purchase. We had bad experiences  in the past but he made us feel at ease

The inspection went very smooth, was very quick. We walked through the entire house in a little over an hour. We were a little nervous to buy a 60 year old house but Wes made us feel very confident that the house we were buying was built strong.
