On 12/24/22, Home Performance Group sent a gentleman to inspect my attic for faulty ductwork since exhaust fans weren't venting correctly. The gentleman stated the issue was significant and would require two laborers. I relied on this representation and agreed to pay roughly $900. Two laborers came to my house on 12/29. They finished the project within 45 minutes. They asked for the remaining balance, which I paid. At the same time, I stated I felt taken advantage of and would contact their office. The office manager confirmed their wage rate is $150/hour/laborer. Thus, labor cost was roughly $300. I asked for materials cost and they refused to provide this amount. Given typical ductwork cost, I imagine materials cost was de minimis. Even with reasonable OH&P, Home Performance Group should have revised their bill by roughly $500 to reflect how quickly they finished the job. They have refused to do so. Without equivocation, I feel they misrepresented the severity of the project and took full advantage of the consumer.

"[Member Name Removed], Thank you for your feedback and concern regarding your most recent service call. We take customer complaints seriously and will use your criticism to improve our services for future customers. I apologize that you feel that you were taken advantage of in regards to our pricing model. Our repairs are bid using a flat rate pricing model that includes time on the jobsite, time driving to the jobsite, time for technician to procure materials, as well as all administrative functions. We confirmed the agreed flat rate pricing both through the Thumbtack messaging app and email and you agreed to this price prior to our arrival. We certainly did not coerce or make an attempt to sell you something on any false pretenses. We definitely did not pressure you to do business with us. I would argue that just because the technicians completed the work quickly, it doesn’t mean the work was easy or that we took advantage of you. I think being efficient makes us a better company to work with, not a lessor one. After analyzing the details of the call, we found two techs had a total of 3.7 hours of repair time in the job in addition to over $200 in material costs to complete the repairs. Given the drive time, material procurement time, repair time, and material cost applied to this repair, we feel the pricing model is both fair and value minded. In your favor, as with all customers we service, the initial service call fee is waived with any qualifying repair. In your case, by mistake, it was deducted from the quoted repair cost twice giving you a credit of $194.75 off the quoted repair price. Given your unhappiness we chose not to recover that mistake and feel this is fair given the circumstances. While I never want to leave a customer unsatisfied or disappointed in our services, given the circumstances, we feel the pricing method used was fair, honest, upfront, and we performed the work in a professional manner. Thank you and take care."

Home Performance Group was outstanding to work with....they actually communicated with me about my upcoming service! Brandy in their office kept in touch and let me know exactly when the technician would arrive. And Keagan DID arrive at that time. And he was thorough and professional. After about 30 minutes, he had the problem identified - did an adjustment to get the hot water heater to get it to work better and then ordered the repair parts. He was just great! Choice Home Warranty is smart to work with Home Performance!

My June experience 2021 with Home Performance Group (HPG) was nothing less than remarkable. It began when Patrick came to my house to do a consultation regarding my 21-year-old air conditioner and furnace. Unlike any of the previous 3 companies that had stopped by, Patrick spent a fair amount of time measuring the entire house, to include every window, and he explained that these measurements help determine which system would be best suited for my house. When it came time to pick the system, he presented me with 4 options and did not try to “hard-sell” me on any of them. Rather, he showed me to pros and cons and while he made his own recommendation, it was up to me to decide. I ended up going with his recommendation anyway. He provided me with extensive documentation regarding the Carrier system I selected. Come installation day, Nick and George arrived with my air conditioner, coil, and furnace and even though it was pouring down rain, they went right to work, removing all the old equipment first and then installing the new equipment. I don’t even think they stopped to take lunch or a break. By the end of the day, I had a full operational system with everything up in running. In fact, they managed to tie my existing, manual controlled humidifier to the new system, something I wasn’t aware was possible, but they pulled it off. Both Nick and George were professionals and went out of their way to make sure no mud was tracked into the house. When it was time for them to leave, nothing was left behind for me to dispose of. The system I now have is so quiet, I honestly can’t tell it is running, besides the fact that the temp in the house is where is should be. My old system was so noisy I could hear it turn on from my 2nd floor bedroom. With the new carrier air conditioner, you could be standing next to it and not know if it was on or off. Also, I am afforded rebates from Carrier and Patrick had them submitted the day the work was completed. I already received an email from Carrier indicating my rebates were being processed. If you are considering this kind of work for a new air conditioner and/or furnace, I highly recommend calling Home Performance Group and get a consultation with Patrick lined up.

We had just purchased our new home and the ac died 2 days later. Home Performance Group diagnosed the problem and recommended a new system. After carefully looking a the options provided, we made a decision about which system. We had an entire team headed up by Nick to help us install. Even the manager, Patrick came out to be sure we were satisfied. It comes with a service contract and we are thrilled as we know that they are reliable and we can count on them.

The problem was diagnosed quickly by George, the technician. He came out a couple of days later with all the equipment to resolve all issues. Even found some issues we were not aware of and diagnosed and resolved. We use Home Performance Group for plumbing, electrical, and furnace/airconditioning. Their home based staff as well as field people are polite, and very knowledgeable. They care.

Horrible nightmare. The duct work the installed were not done properly and they were breaking loose under the weight. They had inexperienced unsupervised employee who didn't know what to do run two heat ducts into one room instead of a return and heat duct. They caused a brand new furnace to break down by clogging it's condenser with pvc shavings. They didn't install the C02 vent properly and it was tripping the safety on the furnace unit shutting it down. The cent wasn't glued or sealed nor to the appropriate angle to allow drainage of condensed water. Left us w no heat in the cold and charged us for a visit to lie and say the gas company didn't purge the gas. We had them back to get the furnace running 3 times in 1 week. They then refused to make it right and the office receptionist/mother started making up false appointment dates and would lie to us. Then they wouldn't show up for actual appointments. We filed complaints with BBB and state of Missouri with no avail. We spent over $400 with another company to get our heat back on.
