"He's a liar. Yes things did move slower than should have. I did not quit. he and his friend pretty much pushed me out because I pulled my back and he didn't want me to finish because of that. I'm sorry that anyone has to read this. Thing got behind due to orders on material, weather, and all the extra work that I need to do because of the condition of the basement. extra concrete to tear out and concrete floor leveling. they changed there mind on walls and door placement. You know this could just go on and on. he also took my hand cart, furniture dollies, 11 temporary lights. And he had the nerve to tell me that possession is 90%of the law. I hope that you take this with a grain of salt. I could go into any job and cut it up also. But i'm not that type of person.."
Brian takes care of everything himself, except for the carpeting that he subcontracts. And he was there to do construction management on the carpeting. He applied his years of experience, proactive dialogue with me during construction, and quality control to make sure you are satisfied. He said up front, you won't regret hiring me. That's the case and we'd hire him again without hesitation.
The work involved sheetrock walls and ceiling, insulated walls, numerous can lights, plugs, switches, rerouting of an existing circuit and adding a new one. Complications such as needing soffits around utilities he handled beautifully. He installed a replacement window for the original aluminum one in the concrete foundation and framed it in and finished it beautifully. Included a second door to the bedroom to provide additional egress. The room was irregularly shaped by the floor plan of the rest of the house, and that was handed to match the rest of the house very attractively. Included a closet with bi-fold doors. All the trim, painting and finishing are beautiful.
Bottom line: My wife says it's just what she wanted and loves it. And she has demanding tastes.
Mr. Feurer did a wonderful job.
His attention to detail is very good, and I am extremely pleased with the end result.
After I approached Brian with the need for a mud room, he came out and took measurements and created some plans which he would then submit to me via email. His plans show what the finished product will look like and it gave me a great visual of what to expect and what I may want to change. At first I did not care if it matched the exterior of the house but after he suggested that it would look much better if it blended in (my wife also suggested it) I agreed. Our exterior is done with a product called "Drive It" and looks like stucco but is actually concrete. Brian did a good job matching the colors and applying it to the exterior.
A couple of items that stand out is how solid the mud room came out. The piers that Brian built were massive and that is what he attached the flooring to in addition to tieing into the house. I'm a big guy and this room does not move or shake when I walk in it. I also had Brian insulate everything including underneath the floors in addition to installing double pane windows and sliding glass doors. Since this is a mud room we did not put any ventilation in, having said that, if we want to keep the room cool we just open the door from the house into the mud room and it stays nice and cool w/o taxing our existing a/c. I'm assuming the same will hold true in the winter.
Overall, I'm very pleased with how this project came out and have several other projects in mind that I will hire Brian for when the budget allows.
Overall I am very pleased with Brian and have used him several times since then. I've had him build us custom cabinets for one of our bedrooms, repair sheetrock damage in other parts of the house, install huge storage shelves in our garage, fix our garage doors, and such. I have a deck in mind that I want to install when the budget allows and will hire him for that as well. Brian does the job well, I like the quality of his work.
