Steve Waters tuned our church's piano several times. The last time, after he tuned it, the bottom two and a half octaves were horribly out of tune. Not even close. I asked him to come back and check it. When he did, he said that he couldn't find anything wrong, and started blaming the piano for having an unclear tone. I am completely baffled and am starting to wonder if he did this just to con the church out of the cost of a tuning. Will never hire again!
Response from Waters Piano Service
"Could I be given another opportunity to attempt to correct this issue for the church, or to at least explain the issue, in person? The last person I spoke with was a lady who opened the church for me when [Member Name Removed] was unavailable. And, I received no text response, when I asked you to please let me know what Conrad says about the piano. I would never attempt to con any house of worship out of the cost of a tuning, knowing my conscience as a life-long Christian, and the high level of concern toward my reputation. In fact, I didn’t charge for my trip out to check the tuning, and I even shared the contact information for another piano technician (Conrad Hulme), in the hopes that he could satisfactorily service the piano. After my last free trip out to the church, I had heard nothing back from the church. So, I assumed Conrad had been taking care of servicing the church’s piano, and the issues had been resolved. If you have read each of the other 15 reviews, yours is the first negative one I have ever received. That is after being engaged over 30 years as a professional piano technician. I feel like I have not been afforded a fair shake in this matter, so I am asking if you would mind either using my services again, to allow me to prove the quality of [Member Name Removed] Piano Service, or to allow me to come out and evaluate the issue again and explain its possible resolution. Is this possible?"

I’ve been using him since 2000. Every year or every 18 months. The going rate around here is between $90 and $100. He rebuilds pianos. He does a good job. He’s reliable. The piano is in tune when he leaves. Price – They’re all pretty much the same, so it’s not like somebody’s being more expensive than anybody else. I rarely give “A’s”. I wouldn’t give anybody an “A” for anything unless they were absolutely amazing. He’s very nice and does a great job, but he’s not amazing.

I'm a new customer for Water's Piano. Upon my contacting him, he got me scheduled before I expected he could, and he arrived on time. While my piano is a high quality grand and in very good overall condition, it had not been tuned for a couple of years (and the elderly tuner I'd been using didn't really "finish the job" as well as it needed to be done in recent years). So, he had his work cut out for him. I'm sure it took longer than he had scheduled, but he did a super job tuning it and did not charge more than what I see is his normal tuning rate. I'm very happy with Water's Piano!!!

Steve did a nice job of tuning my piano (despite the noise of workmen at my house installing hardwood floors). He was very friendly and personable. He also gave me the name of a piano repair person as my piano was damaged when we moved here from out of state. I will definitely contact him in the future as my piano needs tuning.

Steve was quick to set up an appointment. When I told him that besides tuning my piano, there was a "buzz" when I played certain notes, he said he would check that when he came and that lots of times, it is caused by loosened screws. As a result of his comment, I was able to tighten screws myself and stop the buzzing sound.
Steve arrived a few minutes early, politely asked if he should take off his shoes before entering the house, and went to work on my piano. He was fast and efficient. My piano sounds great and I would use his services again.

Steve has tuned my Yamaha studio piano for probably 7 years now. I am a piano instructor and need my instrument to be in good condition, so I am careful about who I select to care for my piano. Steve has been wonderful to work with: he is easy to schedule with and does a thorough and efficient job of tuning my piano. I love that he is a technician as well as a tuner and can make any needed repairs. I will be calling him again soon for another tuning!

Steve tuned my piano in less than an hour. He came in and did the job and was on his way. I would recommend him to any church, home, school, anywhere there is a piano.

great! he was friendly, efficient, and explained what he was doing and why. i don't exactly remember when we used him, but it was over a year ago. he charged about $80 for tuning (i don't remember exactly) and maybe $30-40 more to clean out stuff and do some other work that it needed (sorry, i forgot what it was now). but we liked him, and he did a good job.

Steve Waters was competent & polite. It was apparent to me that he loves music and loves working with musical instruments - he didn't hesitate to answer questions about what he was doing. I will definitely call Steve again.
