Great Fence at a Great Price!
Highly recommend!
I hired Van's Fence to install a backyard fence at the home I just purchased in Liberty, MO.
I got 5 quotes and theirs was among the most competitive of the group.
I called and filled out some paperwork, and got on their schedule. They were about 6 weeks out at the time, which kinda stunk, but it was the same story with all the other vendors, so I can't fault them for this.
I spoke with Gina, and maybe one other lady on the phone, and they were all absolutely great, through the whole process. Very communicative, polite, and professional.
It rained non stop for 6 weeks in KC, so they were a little behind, but I understand with the record rain.
When it came time to install the fence, they did good work in general.
The guys had to dig a lot of the post holes by hand because of tons of utility lines and sprinkler system, but they didn't hit one thing despite the land mines everywhere.
They were done in 2-3 days...one day to dig holes, one day to cement the posts in, and another day to tack up the fence.
When complete, the fence looked great.
On closer inspection, I noticed a few things that weren't perfect, and this is where Van's really showed their colors as a company that you want to deal with.
There were a few stray nails protruding, one post was a little shy on cement, and two of the three gates were a little shy of 4' which was ordered, and my mower couldn't pass through.
The first two items were my being nitpicky, but the gates were important.
I emailed Van's and let them know, and THEY WERE INCREDIBLE!
The sent their best guy out the very next day, and he began the process of fixing all of it.
He even had to tear our a post, and rebuild a gate, but he did amazing work very quickly. He was also super professional and polite, asking me if everything was to my liking all along the way.
Everything doesn't go always go perfect the first time, but Van's really stepped up, and made things right.
Can't recommend them enough.
I have an amazing fence at a great price!
Thanks Van's!

They put in the fence sooner than scheduled. They said it would take a month and after two weeks they called me and said we had an opening. It worked out really good. They were very professional. They came in and explained everything to me. They knew exactly what they were doing. They were real nice.

When I was calling around for estimates, Van's fence was the only one out of the 10 companies that I made contact with. The others I had to leave a message. That was very fustrating. After I made contact with Van's they were able to email me an estimate within 3 days. This I was please with.
Van's fence did a good job and at a reasonable price. They were about 20% less than the other estimates was able to get afterwards. The only negative thing about Van's fence is the lag time from estimate to job completion. In my case the time from estimate to job completion was 7 weeks. Is due to their heavy work load. To their credit they do tell you up front about when they will start the job. This again I was please with. So, if you can wait Van's fence is the company to hire for your fencing needs, but if you are in a hurry they are not the one to choose.

They did a great job. They came right away with a good estimate. They showed up when they said they would. They cleaned up everything. I was pleased with the overall job.

I was given an estimate and Vans gave me some options for how to share the cost with my neighbor, with whom I share a section of fence. They got me on the schedule, and my work was performed very quickly. I was given only an hour's notice before the old fence tear-out was started, which could have been better. I keep a padlock on my gate and that was removed with the tear-out and not saved, despite my conversation with Vans about it. Vans did tear-out on the first day, they sunk posts the second day, and those cured over the weekend. On Monday, the new fence was complete. After tear-out, there were several boards left around my house with nails sticking out of them, so I had to keep kids out of the yard. I think this could have been done a little better. Once the fence was complete, there were a lot of rough edges on the gate where they'd sawed the 2x4s. The gates work very smoothly, but there were so many splinters on them I didn't feel the work was done.
I responded to Vans when they emailed my invoice with my concerns about the splinters and missing lock. They came out in the next couple of days and sanded down the splinters, and gave me a new padlock. Everything looks great now.
Overall, I'm pleased with my experience. I would have liked a little more notice before the job started, and I don't like that boards with nails sticking up out of them were left in my lawn (temporarily...they did clean them up when the built the fence), but the finished product looks good. I also did some price comparison shopping for other companies in the area and Vans had a very reasonable price for the work.
I would do business with this company again.

It took multiple calls before I got a response for an estimate, and he was late when he showed up for the appointment. He didn't give me much information, and pretty much handed me the paper estimate and turned to leave. I had to stop him to ask questions about warranty etc.

The owner/manager really did his best to "make things right", after we expressed dissatisfaction with the results, especially the lack of clean-up. For reasons I didn't quite comprehend, they were unable to build the new fence along the old fence line, so they encountered a few stationary obtrusion, whereby they had to notch the bottom of pickets around. But they even notched around non-stationary objects, that could have been moved. The owner did have his crew move such objects after the fact and replace the notched pickets with full length ones. Dirt was needlessly dumped and left on newly planted flowerbeds and plants were needlessly trampled. Ragged/jagged edges hadn't been filed down. Questionable pieces of wood, had to be replaced on the gates. If we hadn't asked the manager for a better "clean-up", we would have been left with an even longer to-do list, to thoroughly complete the project.

THE CREW WAS RESPONSIVE TO THE NEIGHBORS' NEEDS REGARDING ADVANCE WARNING CONCERNING THEIR DOGS. THEY WERE VERY EFFICIENT AND DID NEAT WORK.
