Tile and Stone Man

The job looked nice but that's the best I can say.  The provider laid the tile directly on the subfloor.

When I questioned that, he said it would be fine.  Well needless to say within 6 months, the tile began to crack.

After repeated calls over a 2 month period, I gave up on him and just hired another tile person. 

On this guys own website, he states that the biggest problem DIYers have is trying to lay tile directly on

the subfloor, so he knew what he did was wrong.

At this point, we're trying to repair the cracked tiles but it is highly likely that eventually the entire floor will have to be torn up and new tile laid using the correct procedures.   This shoddy work could cost me quite a bit of money before its over.

I would highly suggest that anyone considering this guy, be very careful and know what your getting or

better yet, find another tile guy on Angies List! 

  

I should have known when he showed up with his 4 year old daughter (pulled at my heart strings) and had to write the estimate on his business card because he 'forgot his bid sheets' that this might not be kosher. He then asked for $600 deposit without doing any work or purchasing anything - my bad 'again'. Summary of significant deficiencies in performance: 1) Completely disorganized with every tool/item he had in his truck spread out all over my kitchen and lawn (including a tire he had to change that AM because he had flat). I had sod laid the previous week and was concerned it would die in places he had the cement board, tire, tools, tile cutter, etc. 2) Threw his multiple cigarette butts in my yard. 3) The thin to thick layer of dust on 'everything' forced me to hire a cleaning crew and I've never hired someone to clean my house in my life. 4) He was never on time - 'I'll be there at 7 am'.....didn't show up until after 8:30. 5) Tons of personal problems that kept him on the cell phone then talked incestently afterwards about whatever the issue(s) was/were. 6) Disconnected the sink in the bathroom and woke up the next morning to the floor with water all over it because it wasn't shut off all the way. 7) Final straw was when he said...'this is more work than I anticpated. I'm going to put an ad on Craig's List tonight to see if I can get some help'. Well that was it, as a single woman I couldn't afford all that would go with that kind of disregard/wrecklessness. Worst experience with any service provider 'ever' !

Initially, I had a good feeling about Josh. He was very friendly and punctual in coming and giving us an estimate. It was quite a good estimate compared to many others that we had received. He has a lovely website, which shows good work. The problem arose when we realized that in each of two of the bathrooms, a single tile was mis-cut so that when the toilets were put down, or had they been put down - one of them was put down actually - there was a gap between the edge of the toilet and the tile. Repeated calls and emails to Josh were not returned even though he promised that he would come back if we faced any problems. I finally had to pay somebody else to come out and correct his two mistakes. I would not use him again.
