This is the second time I have taken multiple clocks to them. They have done quality work on Bavarian Black Forest Cuckoo and other German clocks. I built a clock from a kit and the main spring broke--they took a 10 second look at it and told me they had the part in stock [at about half of what I expected]. One antique clock I took to them ran for a while but I was surprised it even did that. It was in pretty sad shape and the price charged wasn't prohibitive for the gamble to see if it could run. Each time they completed work early and at the price quoted. On the cuckoo that was in for cleaning, a gear was found to be worn and prior to repair, they called with an estimate. That part was in stock as well. Do I trust their work? Very much so. I won't take my clocks anywhere else. I delayed the cuckoo cleaning until their re-opening after the fire. I would rather wait for them than take my needed work to someone else.

They told me exactly what to do to protect the grandfather clock during a move and it went exactly as they instructed. I plan on having them come out and readjust and reset the clock in the near future. They obviously know what they are doing. I appreciate the fact that they provided detailed instructions over the phone simply at my request. That is customer service.

very knowledgeable technician. unfortunately the cost for repair was much higher than expected, although we have elected to order the parts (from Germany) and proceed.

I am in tears (tears of joy mind you) to have my Grandfather clock up and running once again. I highly recommend the Clock Shop! I have a grandfather clock that is 33+ old, that after an unfortunate accident was knocked over and in pieces. I had a carpenter put back the woodworking and the Clock Shop repaired the workings of this clock that my father had built us for our wedding gift long ago. Dave was so knowledgable and gracious. The clock is ticking and chiming away. I am hearing St. Michaels chime as I type this. I am so happy! Thank you so much Clock Shop...

Great. Chuck was timely and punctual. He examined the works and, based on its age and condition, recommended it was not cost-effective to have it repaired. He only charged a modest fee to cover the service call. I very much appreciated his professionalism, ethics, and candor. Would definitely choose him to do similar work.

The provider repaired the clock. He came on time. He charged what I had been told he would charge. He also gave me some extra information on winding the clock. He oiled the clock and adjusted the chimes. It was a 20 minute service call. He was polite and friendly.

Best of all there was no charge.  He told me if that didn't fix the problem to bring it back and they would have to do a complete overhaul and told me the price for an overhaul.

Subsequent to the servicing of the clock was making a single note sound every hour, on the hour.  It had not been doing this prior to the servicing.  And, it was making this sound when the clock gong switch was in the "off" position.
When I called the Clock Shop to inform them of this situation, they merely blew-off my problem, and said that it wasn't anything they could have done to the clock.  And, furthermore, if I wanted them to come back out to look at the clock --- they would have to charge me another service fee.
Given their attitude towards customer service, and the lack of follow-up on service issues, i will never use them again, nor would I recommend them to any others in need of similar services.
This is a truly terrible way to run a business!

I ran into this storefront with several watches early on a Saturday afternoon.  The shopkeeper gave me a quick run-down on some "old lady" pieces, looked over two pieces I still value AND added links to a watchband so I could wear the watch.  She was kind and professional, gave me receipts and information regarding the two needing repair, and added the links to the watchband without charge.  I could not be happier.
This woman is the daughter of the previous proprietor who cleaned/repaired an old clock for me at least 15 years ago.  At that time he was courteous and professional and told me a little of the history of my old 'plastic' clock and gave me an instant appraisal.
I have had nothing but good experiences with this shop; when many mom-pop businesses are kaput, they're still on Oak Street, still friendly and still in business. Sometimes people are unhappy with professionals who give an unbiased opinion--because it's not the opinion they're hoping for.  Age itself does not automatically make something valuable to the general marketplace.  Market conditions change over time, of course.  Any professional worth his/her salt does not try to rip someone off and then turn around and make a pile of money--word gets around and reputation is ruined.
