After returning from our trip I took him to our normal vet and realized Shoal Creek vet did nothing to get to the bottom of this growth. Our normal vet cleaned it and shaved the area (it was matted with hair). Shoal Creek vet did not even clean the area. It looked the same as when we left for our trip a few days before. I'm not sure how they got a good look at it without cleaning it. When I talked to the vet on the phone over this concern he told me there was no hair on it when brought in. This is untrue as I have several pictures of it from the morning before he was brought in. Shoal Creek told us no red blood cells were present. Our vet said it was full of red blood cells and had to remove it right away and test for cancer. We paid $154 for the visit, 2 tests they said they did, and medication. We paid $70 at our vet for for the same test and medication that didn't make my dog sick (like the meds Shoal Creek gave him) We also received a quote to remove his growth. The quote was over $600 from Shoal Creek. Our vet removed it for $250.

All of the daycare staff are always watching out for my dogs and always notice a difference in personality, appearance and mood. One of my dogs has special needs and they are always making sure he's ok and feels good. My dogs are always excited to go and can't wait to get there! The office staff know us right away when we walk in and are always happy to see us. My dogs will not go another vet besides Dr. Cowan. He remembers everything about them and is always available for questions or concerns. He is one of the best veterinarians we've ever had. I I definitely recommend Shoal Creek Animal Hospital!

We liked the facilities and staff when we showed up, unannounced, for the tour. The kennels and spaces were clean and the price was reasonable. Drop off went just fine and my 2 dogs (~50 lb mix dogs) seemed as excited to go here as they are at Pete and Macs when we drop them off. The issue arose when we picked up. It was about 8am when I picked them up and it took 15 minutes for them to go get my pups. My normally happy dogs had their tails tucked and couldn't have been more eager to leave. So much so, that they were hardly even excited to see me - just booked it toward the exit. Because I only live 10 minutes away, I shuttled them into the car quickly to get home. When I got them home, they barely got out of the car before they both ran to the grass to potty. Within an hour of being home, one of them also pooped in the house, in spite of being let out to go potty twice. When I called, I was informed they had not been let out prior to my arrival for pickup - which they failed to mention to me when they handed them over. They close at 6pm, so this likely means my dogs were going 14 hours without being let out to potty, which I did NOT realize when I dropped them off. My dogs then proceeded to run around the house playing vigorously for the rest of the day, as if they hadn't been doing so for 3 days. Whenever I have taken them to Pete and Macs they are so tired and happy from a weekend of daycare and boarding that they lay around the house very content - often for more than a day. Overall, I'm glad they kept my dogs alive and fed for the 3 day weekend. However, I will not be taking my pups back here. I think the care was sub par and prefer to drive all the way across Kansas City where my pups get above average care.

Shoal Creek is very comfortable and friendly place for pet and owner.  When I lost my one baby last winter they were very compassionate and understanding of how hard it was.  They are very friendly and really connect with the pets.  I wouldn't  hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
On this visit they were very knowledgeable about heart-worm medications and  the variety of brands and the differences between them.

It was a great trip.  I remember when we use to take the dogs to the vet and they would sit there and shake the whole time.  Otis and Kitty my two dogs aren't like that.  They enjoy the visit.  You can tell the staff enjoy the animals and really care about them.  They are caring and gentle and treat them as if they were their own pets.

We see a Veterinarian at Shoal Creek who we respect and feel gives our little dog his best attention and us his best advice. We also use their groomer for our dog's grooming needs. She is very good with animals and Lola is not afraid to go to her. We've been very pleased with all our experiences with Shoal Creek Animal Hospital: Vet. care, grooming, boarding. I recommend them to whomever is looking for a Veterinarian for excellent care of their pet. Also, Grooming.

Their price is a little high. They really seem to care about the animals. They are professional. They speak English instead of veterinary language which I cannot understand and they have to explain everything. The doctor is really competent and he is real good. My dog had a real bad leg problem and he did the surgery and we are really pleased with the result. He is a real nice guy. The staff is friendly. They take real good care of the dog but it is expensive.

It was not good!!! We did not feel valued and we felt they didn't care about the well being of the dog and other dogs in the kennel. Its was truly a dissappointing experience and we feel they only care about the money not the animals!

They were very professional. They have a doggie daycare center, but I have not used it. The overall experience was excellent.

Josh, my Lab Golden mix, was taken care of by Dr. Franz and Dr. Cowan at Shoal Creek Animal Hospital. Josh had a leg surgery (FHO) a few years ago, he is in his elder years, and has hip dysplasia. He was having issues staying up all night, panting, and was uncomfortable. I thought it was from his previous mentioned conditions.

Dr. Franz and Dr. Cowan ran a bunch of tests over a few visits and determined Josh's illness to be Cushing’s disease. Josh was then put on medication and is doing so much better. He is no longer panting and can sleep through the night.

I love the fact I can go into Shoal Creek and the staff knows my dog's name and my name and I don't have to explain to a new Veterinarian what Josh's issues are. Both Dr. Franz and Dr. Cowan have been at Shoal for a while and haven't been cycled out like other Veterinarian offices I have visited. It is important with the amount of money that I spend that I know I am getting great care for Josh.

My dog is family and I demand good care for my money.
