The work was completed quickly, but we had several problems with the work that was done. First, there were two places where the rotted wood was not replaced. That caused the some of the shingles to sag down on the edge of the roof. Second, an entire section of the roof was not replaced (the section that was leaking and had spurred us to get a whole roof replacement). We were never told that there would be a section left out of the estimate and work. When we mentioned this to Northstar, they offered to give us an additional estimate for that section. Since we had already paid for a whole roof replacement, we did not want to pay any additional money for the job to be completed. We went back and forth with the owner of Northstar for several months, trying to come to a resolution. During this time, he was very untimely about returning our calls. At one point, after he told us he would "be in touch," it was over a month before we heard from him (and then only after we called him). We filed a complaint with the BBB. Northstar agreed to come out and fix the sagging shingles and rotted wood. Our complaint about the section of the roof that was not replaced went unresolved. We then filed complaints with Angie's List and the Ohio Attorney General. The owner of Northstar called us at that point, and we were able to work out a resolution. Between other jobs, the weather, and the weekend, it took about a week to get Northstar out to do the work (understandable). They seem to have done an excellent job on this section. I'm afraid that this is only because of all the complaints that we filed. I wish that their quality of work was like this for ALL of their jobs (including the rest of our roof that was originally replaced).

We had to wait a while because of the early spring weather. Another problem is that they are still behind on fixing up after the hurricane last fall. Although I originally miscommunicated the amount of decking that I thought would have to be replaced, they promptly helped me reassess the situation and completed the entire job without a hassle.

I loved them and I would highly recommend them. I thought they did a great job. Dave, the owner, is incredible to work with and talk to. He is very kind.

It went great. He saw the problem immediately even though the other two companies I had out couldn't find it. He was a very nice gentleman and he did a good job.

Overall, I was pleased. However, the crew did not show up when originally promised and did not call to reschedule. I called and found out they were finishing the previous job and would be performing my work on the next day. The stripping and reshingling went well. I did find many staples and nails on my driveway for days after they cleaned up but they did clean up all other debris satisfactorily. When the crew took down the old gutters, one of the pieces damaged a window screen which none of us noticed at the time. Later when I discovered the damage, they came out and removed the screen and repaired it a few days later. The downspouts were not secure at the bottom and I asked to have them secured which was accomplished. However, one of the secure points broke loose and they had to come back to repair it. Two weeks after the repair, the original and another secure points broke loose and I had them come back to reattach. So far, so good.

Excellent. I spoke with a lot of roofers before hiring someone. We live in a high wind area, and have had several problems with shingles blowing off due to the incompetence of the previous owner, who installed the previous roof himself (he nailed the shingles high, and drove half the nails through the shingles. The salesperson (Jerry) responded quickly and was very helpful during the sales call, recommended a high-wind arch-shingle and left several samples. Material was delivered by a supply contractor, and was delivered on schedule. The crew arrived on time, was professional and courteous, worked hard, and did an excellent job. Our house had been painted a few weeks before, and they didn't scratch anything with ladders, materials, etc. The owner and the salesperson both visited during the job to check on things. The roof was stripped down to plywood, and the portion of the roof that was temporarily not waterproof was covered with a tarp when it was not being worked on.
