The work was done incorrectly and now we have to have them removed and new one installed by a different company.

The work was seemingly okay but now a year or so later, I had an engineer out who said the work wasn't done correctly, now I have to re-do at least a portion of the foundation. I called May Foundation to see about any warranty or at least get a diagram of exactly where they put the piers, no response. Stay far away from these people, they are expensive and apparently do not do the job right and certainly don't back up their work.

If you have foundation/settlement issues, do not do what I did. I should have gotten a report from a structural engineer ($300-500) before contacting and contracting with foundation repair companies. Instead, I got bids from 3 different companies that I picked out of the Yellow Pages (Angie's list wasn't really on the radar at that time). Those 3 were probably the worst possible ones I could have randomly picked. They all quoted a higher price than what I found out later was a reasonable, normal amount for that kind of work May Development was the one that I felt best about at the time. They took them a long time to do the work ( more than a week). I have a feeling that was because they hoped to "justify" the too high dollar cost. The work was rarely supervised by a boss- a variety of workers showed up-it was not a consistent work crew . The work and its results were complicated by the fact that while the holes next to the foundation were dug and left open, a heavy rainstorm caused lots of water to fill the holes and consequently flow into our basement. When the work was finished, May had to return twice to actually truly complete the repairs to their promised standards . And, although the work was finally completed, I absolutely got the feel that I had gotten "screwed".

May----Too high a price, so-so work and less than adequate communication during the process.

  • In 2015 I had to do more repairs  (4 more Piers). I did it right.
  • Structural Engineer's report (Dennis Seig Engineer, an excellent choice)
  • Used an excellent company (Pier Magic- a reputable company)
  • The 4 pier job was efficiently completed in ONE day.

They were wonderful and we haven't had any problem at all. We had couple of people come out and their price was in the middle.

Years ago they installed an underground pipe the length of the home in order to drain water away from the house. It went well and quickly. They put back sod so well that it was hard to tell where they had dug. I was impressed. I was glad to get it done even though I thought the cost was expensive since they didn't have to go out very many feet.

I felt the review my water problem was thorough and felt comfortable with the solutions which were proposed. The crew took measures to keep the mess to a minimum, hanging plastic sheets to keep the concrete dust from spreading too much and putting plastic down over the carpet. The job took 4 days total but they always left the site in a respectful manner, which I appreciated. There hasn't been any spring flooding as of yet but I'm confident these were the appropriate measures.
The only disappointment was that I was told the crew would save any floor tiles which were salvagable. When I reviewed each days progress I thought I saw some good tiles set aside but these were discarded with the rest of the garbage when they cleaned up. I did not thoroughly inspect the tiles, so I can only assume they were not worth saving. I realize that having to replace the tiles was likely with this project.

They charged me around the $3000 range I guess. I did not like the services that they performed for me. I would not recommend them or refer them to a friend or family member.

I had 4 quotes and decided to use May Foundations. They were excellent. Their quote was totally different than the others I received. I live in a big house with a crawl space. They gave me other options of fixing it that would be approved by a home sale inspector. They showed up when they said they would and finished when they said they would. They cleaned up very well after themselves, went the extra mile in doing some block repair and were really good. I would recommend them to anybody.

We are satisfied with their work. They were very neat and covered everything that needed to be covered to protect from dust and what not. We had panelling removed by another contactor and they re-assembled everything for us. When we had questions after the work, they were quick to come back out and help us. The quote we got was substantially less than other ones.

May Development were very professional. I felt that they were honest. They did just the work that needed to be done without trying to talk me into doing additional work. They are very reputable. I think they are trustworthy. I would definitely use them again.

I thought their estimate was reasonable. The wall looks good. And the people that did it were very responsible. They seemed to be well knowledgeable in what they needed to do. They did the work in a reasonable amount of time. They did what they said they were going to do and they cleaned up after they were finished and I'm very pleased with the wall.

I obtained 3 quotes from different companies, did extensive research on the internet, and asked several co-workers of mine. I hired a structural engineer since the three quotes were so diverse. One company wanted $11,400 just to put in a helical screw system and said I never had do to anything else. This didnt make sense & the engineer said that was not necessary. Harlain from May Co. came out and gave me an estimate for the work I wanted done. He was honest and up front from the beginning and didnt try to sell me anything like a sump pump (didnt need that according to an engineer). He came out to my house twice and answered all my questions. He was honest and up front, and I felt I could trust him and the very good reputation of his company. One small downside, a small mix-up in the scheduling of my job. But once that was cleared up, they were on time and no further problems. Every one on the work crews were very polite and concerned about my property.
