The work was seemingly okay but now a year or so later, I had an engineer out who said the work wasn't done correctly, now I have to re-do at least a portion of the foundation. I called May Foundation to see about any warranty or at least get a diagram of exactly where they put the piers, no response. Stay far away from these people, they are expensive and apparently do not do the job right and certainly don't back up their work.
Description of Work: Had a corner of the house which needed to be lifted due to foundation settlement

If you have foundation/settlement issues, do not do what I did. I should have gotten a report from a structural engineer ($300-500) before contacting and contracting with foundation repair companies. Instead, I got bids from 3 different companies that I picked out of the Yellow Pages (Angie's list wasn't really on the radar at that time). Those 3 were probably the worst possible ones I could have randomly picked. They all quoted a higher price than what I found out later was a reasonable, normal amount for that kind of work May Development was the one that I felt best about at the time. They took them a long time to do the work ( more than a week). I have a feeling that was because they hoped to "justify" the too high dollar cost. The work was rarely supervised by a boss- a variety of workers showed up-it was not a consistent work crew . The work and its results were complicated by the fact that while the holes next to the foundation were dug and left open, a heavy rainstorm caused lots of water to fill the holes and consequently flow into our basement. When the work was finished, May had to return twice to actually truly complete the repairs to their promised standards . And, although the work was finally completed, I absolutely got the feel that I had gotten "screwed". May----Too high a price, so-so work and less than adequate communication during the process. In 2015 I had to do more repairs (4 more Piers). I did it right. Structural Engineer's report (Dennis Seig Engineer, an excellent choice) Used an excellent company (Pier Magic- a reputable company) The 4 pier job was efficiently completed in ONE day.

I attempted to contact AB May as as I have heard their advertisment on the radio for many years. Their website mad it look easy by just sending an e-mail or leave a message and they would get right back with you. I never heard one word from them, ever. I a the same time contacted another bussiness who responded less than 5 minutes after I requested a quote. In less than one week I had a quote and they completed my work to a very high standard and at a resonable cost. I liked them I will not use AB May.

They were wonderful and we haven't had any problem at all. We had couple of people come out and their price was in the middle.
Description of Work: They moved our back wall 2 or 3 inches inward and put steel beams all the way around the basement. They sealed all the cracks. They dug out from the back wall and put a water barrier to catch water. They also put in adjustable posts in the center of the house and one of the doors was not shutting properly and they came out and adjusted it a year later.

Years ago they installed an underground pipe the length of the home in order to drain water away from the house. It went well and quickly. They put back sod so well that it was hard to tell where they had dug. I was impressed. I was glad to get it done even though I thought the cost was expensive since they didn't have to go out very many feet.
Description of Work: This time they had to bury a newly installed downspout and tap into that drain that was already there. Thus, they installed a 4" PVC pipe along with a connector and sealed it before replacing dirt and sod.

I felt the review my water problem was thorough and felt comfortable with the solutions which were proposed. The crew took measures to keep the mess to a minimum, hanging plastic sheets to keep the concrete dust from spreading too much and putting plastic down over the carpet. The job took 4 days total but they always left the site in a respectful manner, which I appreciated. There hasn't been any spring flooding as of yet but I'm confident these were the appropriate measures. The only disappointment was that I was told the crew would save any floor tiles which were salvagable. When I reviewed each days progress I thought I saw some good tiles set aside but these were discarded with the rest of the garbage when they cleaned up. I did not thoroughly inspect the tiles, so I can only assume they were not worth saving. I realize that having to replace the tiles was likely with this project.
Description of Work: Installed approximately 25 foot of interior drain tile relief system with the sump pump being installed in a crawl space. In addition, three panels of sheet rock were pulled to allow further inspection of cracks which were noticed on the exterior of the foundation. A lateral crack was discovered and patched and then drywall PVC sheeting was installed. Should the wall crack and leak in the future, the sheeting would channel the water down into the drainage system while preveting damage to the insullation & drywall. Cracks to the exterior foundation were also patched.

I had 4 quotes and decided to use May Foundations. They were excellent. Their quote was totally different than the others I received. I live in a big house with a crawl space. They gave me other options of fixing it that would be approved by a home sale inspector. They showed up when they said they would and finished when they said they would. They cleaned up very well after themselves, went the extra mile in doing some block repair and were really good. I would recommend them to anybody.

We are satisfied with their work. They were very neat and covered everything that needed to be covered to protect from dust and what not. We had panelling removed by another contactor and they re-assembled everything for us. When we had questions after the work, they were quick to come back out and help us. The quote we got was substantially less than other ones.
Description of Work: We got a good estimate from them and decided to hire them to install a new sump pump, build a trench, and do a lot of structural work in our basement.

The May Development was very nice and very professional. We did not chose May Development because their solution did not match what our home inpsector recommended. Replacing the garage floor instead of mud-jacking is more expensive, and they did not offer any of the needed wall piering.
Description of Work: Poor drainage caused our garage floor to sink, and the adajacent foundation wall to push out. First,we had a home inspector/engineer evaluate our house and provide a report. They recommended installing 2-3 piers under the affected wall, mud-jacking the garage floor, and removing a "1/4 circle" patio in between the driveway and sidewalk in front of the house (the patio was the source of the poor drainage) We contacted May Development Company for an estimate. They proposed replacing the garage floor with a new floor and a water drain to help route water in the garage away from the garage floor.

I thought their estimate was reasonable. The wall looks good. And the people that did it were very responsible. They seemed to be well knowledgeable in what they needed to do. They did the work in a reasonable amount of time. They did what they said they were going to do and they cleaned up after they were finished and I'm very pleased with the wall.
Description of Work: They helped me to rebuild part of a basement wall that was displaced and cracked. The original wall was a block wall.

I did not pursue it as I had another bid and did not want to use a company that was not even punctual with an estimate.
Description of Work: A representative came out to the house to give an estimate on replacing concrete stairs. He gave a verbal estimate and promised a comprehensive written estimate in the next week. This was in September. Despite a call back to the company, no written estimate was ever received.

I obtained 3 quotes from different companies, did extensive research on the internet, and asked several co-workers of mine. I hired a structural engineer since the three quotes were so diverse. One company wanted $11,400 just to put in a helical screw system and said I never had do to anything else. This didnt make sense & the engineer said that was not necessary. Harlain from May Co. came out and gave me an estimate for the work I wanted done. He was honest and up front from the beginning and didnt try to sell me anything like a sump pump (didnt need that according to an engineer). He came out to my house twice and answered all my questions. He was honest and up front, and I felt I could trust him and the very good reputation of his company. One small downside, a small mix-up in the scheduling of my job. But once that was cleared up, they were on time and no further problems. Every one on the work crews were very polite and concerned about my property.
Description of Work: May came out and did an approx 60 to 70 foot swell around the north and west side of the house. Inside the basement they repaired a large crack in the wall with high strength epoxy. They also filled several other smaller cracks. They installed 6 carbon/steel box beams along the wall to stabilize it as it had started to move inward. They cut around a gas pipe (on the back porch) that the previous owners had encased in concrete, and removed a brick stoop on the same porch. They made sure to cover the area w/plastic (to keep down the dust) as they used a jack hammer to dig into the basement floor to install the beams. They removed all work related debris.

A representative came out to make a bid on a crumbling block foundation. He lacked what I would consider a 'professional attitude.' He would not go under the house to inspect a sagging floor and then suggested that I repair the foundation block myself with a car jack. His quote only included jacking up the corner of the garage and claimed they do not repair block and I would have to hire a mason. He claimed a building permit would be $400 and upon checking with the local code department, I was quoted $25 for a permit. Never got a bid in writing or any other contact from them. I would not recommend this company due to the poor presentation their rep. gave me.
