We decided to split the house into two weeks of work that were about a month apart and John was started on time as agreed and finished on time as agreed both times. This was despite having to work around a few other subs and running into some extremely wet weather that significantly slowed the drying process the second time. His method of getting the floors sanded and then putting a sample of a few different types of stain on the floor really helped us to see how the color would come out. He made sure we understood what they were doing and why. The second week he was there we were on vacation and all we did was leave the garage door with him and he took care of the rest - calling us almost every day to keep us updated with how things were progressing. All of the work they did was excellent and looks great! Very highly recommended!

Jon was very personable and takes a very individualistic view of the people that have him as a contractor. You can tell from the start that he wants to make you feel comfortable and understand exactly what is going to happen. The whole experience was very well done and I was very satisfied with the outcome. He gave us an exact start date and followed through on it. It helped us plan for moving our stuff out. He was very efficient and done within the specified time. I recommend Jon to anyone who is in need of a good, hardworking crew that meets and tries to exceed your expectations. J & T hardwood went above and beyond our expectations and we feel we definitely got our money's worth.

I was amazed at how much of the stains he removed. So there were fewer boards to replace than I thought. The process was virtually dustfree and his crew cleaned up any debris left. He was very customer-oriented and took pride in his work. I was amazed when he was finished. My floors are beautiful!!!!! I love the job he did and have passed his name on to some friends. Jon was very easy to work with and very patient. He did an outstanding job. Also he was very reasonably priced and did quote based on size of room. There was also a coupon to use. You knew exactly the price and felt good about paying it.

I had a terrible experience with Jon from J & T. When I first talked with him I was impressed with his level of confidence in his work but after we got started it quickly changed. The install looked good but he had it subcontracted. Ad says no subs, but the finish coats were all bad. First coat he had mineral spirits drips in several spots which caused the stain to bleach. He repaired that. On his second coat it got worse. There was a spot that looked like he had dropped a rag in the finish, pieces of grass clippings, dirt, hair and lint everywhere. I called him and he asked for a 6 am meet the next day. He showed at 8:45 and didn't apologize or seem to care. I gave him two more chances. It looked better but you could still see where the rag print was and now there where circular scratches where he sanded and still some junk in finish. I checked with 3 other contractors. None would guarantee they could fix. I payed him all but 200 and told him I would have to find someone else to fix.
Response from J & T HARDWOOD FLOORING
"IN RESPONSE TO THIS MEMBERS COMMENTS I WOULD FIRST LIKE TO SAY THAT I BROKE MY WRIST AT THE BEGINNING OF THE JOB AND WAS FORCED TO SUB OUT THE INSTALL. NO EXCUSE JUST FACT. I WAS ALSO NOT ALLOWED TO FINISH THE JOB AND TO DO A FLOOR IS A PROCESS AND THERE ARE CERTAIN STEPS YOU HAVE TO TAKE TO COMPLETE THE FLOOR. I DID NOT GET TO FINAL THE FLOOR SO OF COURSE THERE WERE STILL IMPERFECTIONS AND THAT IS WHY IT IS CALLED A FINAL COAT. I WOULD AT LEAST LIKE TO HAVE HAD THE CHANCE TO FINISH BEFORE I WAS ACCUSED OF DOING BAD WORK."

Jon came gave us an estimate, a start date and a finish date on the same day. The crew showed up on time, went to work, finished the job on time and got color right the first try. They were fun to work with and gave me something extra. A strip of mahogany around the fireplace. Even better dust free!!!! They were so good that we decided to hire them for additional work.
