Dixie and her team did an amazing job. Not only were they the cheapest bid we go,t but they went above and beyond we were expecting. They got started straight away and worked diligently to get the job done. I really couldn't be happier with our experience. I would definitely recommend they to anyone.

Dixie Owens Concrete replaced the cement walkway to my house and also repaired one of the steps to the front porch. I think the work looks very good, and I have received quite a few compliments on it. The cost was $1,150 to replace the entire walkway (which included some steps out by the sidewalk) and to repair one of the steps that go up to the front porch (there was a crack and some rebar showing). Dixie's was the lowest estimate of the three I received. I also had read quite a few excellent reviews of her company's work on the nextdoor.com app for the Waldo neighborhood and surrounding area. Dixie was very accessible from start to finish. She answered the phone personally every time I called except for one time when I left a voice mail, and she returned that call promptly. Clean up was good but not absolutely stellar. There were a few small pieces of cement that I picked up myself. But not bad at all. Dixie and crew are very casual and laid back. For example, she gave me just a verbal estimate and a very simple receipt -- nothing fancy. Dixie also does not accept credit cards, although I was able to use my credit card to pay for the cement. Geiger is the company whose cement truck came over with the cement. Dixie called their office on her cell phone and then gave me the phone, and I gave them my credit card information. That charge came to $329. I paid the balance to Dixie in cash. She also accepts local checks. By the way -- If you are having similar work done, be aware that the posts and molds that are placed for the cement pouring create gouges along the sides of the walkway. It was necessary for me to add some soil to fill in these gouges after the job was completed and the molds and posts were removed. I already had some bags of soil in the garage and I put that dirt in the gouges. In summary, I give Dixie Owens and crew high marks and feel I got good value for the money.

But when the contractor went to build I had NO FOOTINGS. I contacted her and she would not discuss with me she had Richard deal with it and they only offered 500.00 back. They left piles of concrete in my yard along with a 5 gallon bucket filled with concrete. I was given there name from a friend and looked at your web sight and thought I could trust but was I wrong. I paid 4750.00 and only got about 2500.00 worth of work. The slab looked good but not what I paid for. She gets a BIG F in my book.
Description of Work: I had a 17 X 17 foot slab poured I was told I needed footing all the way around and was bid for this which I paid after work was completed.

Dixie bid the job and I accepted her bid. After that I realized I needed alittle more work done and she included it in her original bid for me.Small company that used more hand tools than I expected. They showed up on time and worked on a Saturday to finish the job. Job was done as promised and the results were very good.

6/15/I called for an estimate. She came out and left an estimate a few days later, but never met with me. She just dropped by when I was not available. At that time she had an address nearby in KCK, which was her home address. She does not do the work, but hires other people. She quoted me $450 to tear out and replace the front step in the front of the house. One day they showed up and started trying to dig the old step out with hammers and shovels. They gave up half way through. The step was reinforced with metal, which she saw when she looked at the step, assuming she even really did look at it. Then after they gave up half way through, she called me on the phone and demanded that I pay $900 to finish it because they decided they needed to rent a jackhammer. I refused, but finally settled on $650. I only agreed to meet her part way, because she was still approximately $300 less than all the other estimates. She was also to make a small step in the back for another $150. She tried to cheat me on it by making a much smaller step than what I wanted. The guys finally made a larger step, closer to what I wanted, but still a little smaller. This lady can not be trusted.

I called Dixie and they gave me a bid the next day. The job was small and I was not sure that I could get someone to do the work. I had call another company and they never called back. The work was done a few days later due to some rain in the area. They were easy to work with, but again the job was small. I was glad I could get someone to do the work. I feel that the price was fair for the work that was done.

They said they would get back with me on a Sunday night and they didn't call so I called them a week later. She said that she will call back on a Sunday night and she never did so I gave up. They responded initially. I would not use them in the future.
Description of Work: Dixie Owens Concrete came and looked at the driveway and then wouldn't call me back with a quote. It was to replace a driveway apron. They gave me an estimate but they never called back with the quote.

The property in question needed the driveway approach and about 12 feet after it replaced. Additionally, it had a nasty hump in the approach that could cause scraping of the underside of a car if taken too fast. When I decided to have the job done, I caled a number of companies rated highly on Angie's List. Disappointingly, some never returned my calls or I had to call a couple more than a single time. Not a very good way to run a business, I thought. Nevertheless, I was able to get three estimates. Dixie's was a bit less expensive than one, but what made me choose her is that her son had done work for me many years ago, and I was quite pleased with the results. I figured Dixie must have had something to do with that quality work. She made a couple of good suggestions to deal with the elevated approach, and I appreciated that. Once she sent me a written estimate, I called her, and she set up a start date for the following Friday. The new concrete was poured on Saturday, and everything looks good. I was there when they did the work, and everything was done quite professionally.

They were professional, but casual. They were very prompt and it did not take long to get them scheduled. They stay small and are available as needed.
Description of Work: We had a front sidewalk poured with entry steps. There are steps near the sidewalk and then five steps to the porch. They tore out an existing sidewalk and removed the old concrete.
