Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care

Excellent and prompt service for a repair that just had to be done.

Towed it from our house to their shop. diagnosed it and called us with estimate. Was done very quickly. First time the transmission on our van has worked and shifted so smoothly. Would go to them again if needed. Very reliable and timely.

Excellent service and repair. Quick and to the point. Recheck ked everything 1 week later.

Service went well. Pleased with the level of communication and responsiveness .

It was very good. They took care of the problem that I knew about, and they also showed me a potential problem that could be solved before something catastrophic happened. They got to my problem quickly and resolved it within the day. He was very friendly and informative, and he showed me what needed to be done before hand so I didn't feel like they were doing unnecessary work.

They did a good job. They flushed the entire transmission to remove all the fluid from radiator and lines.

They did a great job! I am more than happy with them. I heard good reviews and they were close to me. The manager was very personable and he answer all my questions. They only sell me what was needed to be done and I don't have any problem.

My only complaint was, three years later we had the same problem arise and we sold the car so we didn't have to deal with it. So I don't know whether it was a problem with the car or Cottman. They took care of the problem initially and it was OK.

It was first rate.  They were professional and courteous.  It was money well spent.

Cadillac Eldo 1996 (we keep it as a 3d car) transmission would not shift, I was told that I needed a new or rebuilt transmission to the tune of several $$$, by the Co who was doing regular repairs on this car, and decided to check other ways. This happens about 18 to 24 months ago, and everything is fine, still drive the car, doing well I think it cost in the neighborhood of $ 500.00- 700.00, cheaper that a new one!!!!!

Customers who use contractors or mechanics are always at a disadvantage to a degree. We are expected to believe and trust the vendor and pay whatever they ask having no knowledge of what is actually being done, the time it really takes, or what is involved. I have had many good experiences with contractors and repairmen. Unfortunately my experience with Cottman was a negative one. I would not go there again or recommend them to anyone. They replaced a transmission in a Ford F-150, were paid in full when I picked the truck up and I drove it a bit but it continued to leak transmission fluid and was not reliable. I took it back to Cottman and they did some more work on it (another $480.44) but it still was unreliable and leaking fluid. I took it to two other places. One claimed the clutch (that had already been replaced) was bad. I passed on them. The next placed said that the slave cylinder was bad. They repaired it (more high dollar expense) but the vehicle only made it about 200 miles before it broke down again and I had it towed 60 miles to my property in the Ozarks. I spoke with a car dealer friend there who I know is honest and he recommended a small shop he uses. They determined that the master cylinder was cracked and fixed the problem for $120.00 and they now take care of the truck for me. I leave it there where I use it as needed and can have problems taken care of by folks I can trust at a reasonable price. If I had known about them initially, I could have saved a lot of money and not been stranded on the road at 4:00am. I also keep roadside assistance with AAA and recommend them to anyone who owns an older vehicle. AAA is a great company and always comes through and sends help immediately when you need it no matter where you are. I use a Mazda dealership for maintenance and repairs on my MX-5 and have been very happy with the results there as well for 5 years. I appreciate service people who fix a problem and I like to give positive feedback. I rarely give negative reviews to anyone. Unfortunately the bottom line for me is a lesson learned the hard and expensive way. I feel the issue with the cylinders should have been addressed at the time the transmission work was done. Perhaps Cottman has customers that have had a different experience but I am sorry to say mine was negative.

I own a family fleet of 4 vehicles. I have had Kevins crew work on  3 of the 4. New transmission, blown head gasket, water pump, total brake overhaul, fuel injectors. Some of these needed to be towed in. Kevin arranged the vehicle pickup, gave me a complete overview of the issues and repaired them in a timely manner. I have NO complaints. They may not be the cheapest but if you want your car fixed correctly CALL KEVIN! These guys know their stuff.....

Their service went well and I am happy with the way it turned out. They did a great job.

I'm super pleased with Cottman Transmission. They did what they said they were going to do at a good price. There was no hassles or anything. I'm getting ready to take another vehicle in to have it serviced there. I have no complaints.
