"My apologies on how your job went Mr [Member name removed]. We did have issues and the job took much longer than it should have. This is no excuse, but we install over 20 kitchens a week and every once in a while, we have a mistake or a chip or the job has an issue. We work hard to fix those issues when they come up. In your case, I am sorry you have repair work still(is it with the counters or is it a wall or cabinet repair?) and would help out if you want us to. No company is perfect, but we should strive to be and admit when a job did not go as planned.. We will continue to work on getting better hopefully this issue won't happen again. As you can see on this site, it doesn't happen alot since we install 500 jobs per year, but I still feel bad about it and want all my customers to have a good experience with us.. Please call or email me if you want to talk more about it.."
They did an excellent job of cutting and edging the granite as well as laminating the edges of the island countertop to make it appear twice as thick. They used laser measurement equipment to make a computer-aided-design template to be used by state-of-the-art computerized fabricating equipment. We found it odd that they did not mention this fairly new equipment on their web site. Counter demolition and installation went well with only one problem. We apparently lost the top bracket for our corner-cabinet Lazy-Susan during the demolition process which they promptly fixed.
Although they are a granite fabrication business, they subcontract plumbing, tile and electrical work to provide a full range of services for their clients. The plumbing work was subcontracted to Todd Akins ((816) 215-7137] who with more than 35 years of experience did an excellent job. Tile demolition and installation was performed by Fred Rivera of Del Mar Tile [(913) 634-7739]. Fred not only did a great job, he also provided input on whether or not to use regular or enhancer sealant. Fred also gave us the ideal to use angled power strips from the Task Lighting Corporation (www.tasklighting.com) to avoid interrupting our accent tiles with light switches and power outlets. This prompted the need for a licensed electrician which Braco Stone recommended. Mark DeVolder of Quality Mark Construction [(913) 563-6747] re-wired the kitchen to place the wires for the switches and outlets just under the cabinets and installed temporary outlets while we waited for the power strips to be delivered. Mark also installed the wallboard for the tile work which Fred then completed just before the power strips arrived. One electrical problem we encountered was that the power strips were not deep enough to accommodate a “slim” designed GFCI outlet to comply with the electric code for protected outlets used in a kitchen. Mark had to install the GFCI outlets in the junction boxes under the floor used to re-wire the kitchen. Overall, the project was well managed with very little down time. We are very pleased with the work provided by Braco Stone and their subcontractors and would strongly recommend them for any future work.
I will say that the hardest part of this project was just deciding on the granite. There are so many choices it was mind boggling. Once we decided on the materials and agreed to Braco's bid, the install went reasonably well.
The granite install went in as predicted. Unfortunately we had a little issue with the back splash and the faucet. They had to call in a carpenter to install bracing in the corners. We have a U shaped kitchen and the corners are at a 45 leaving a void behind them. Once the old counter top was removed, there was no support for that section of wall. The only issue I have with that is that I think Braco's experience with many, many installs should have allowed them to anticipate that as a potential issue. The only reason I bring that up is because it added additional time and expense to the project. Having said that, Braco took care of everything that need taking care. They made sure the wall was solid so that we would not have issues with the tile later on.
The issue with the faucet was nothing Braco had any control over. It was simply bad luck. We bought a high end faucet and it did not function correctly. They tried to repair it, but that didn't work either. So, they ordered a new faucet but that was not the correct model. They ordered another one and that one was finally right and works perfectly. It took a while to get it right but Braco made sure it was right.
The only caution I have is to be flexible and prepared for some unanticipated issues. I don't think that's a Braco fault, just simply the way it is.
We are very happy with the result and we highly recommend Braco for your project.
Finally, Mark loves it when you start your emails with "Hey Mark. I hate to tell you this, but...". It makes his day... ;-)
