I do not understand what has happened to this business. We used to receive excellent service from the vets and the lodge. Over the last year, we have had a couple of horrible experiences with them. We took our dog into have her boarded. I had taken in her bed, comforter, and all her other items, including meds. I also talked to them both when scheduling Zuri's stay and when dropping her off that she had come home after her previous visit with cuts and deep gouges on her face, chest, and legs that had taken about 3 weeks or more to heal up, after she came home. I asked that they watch more closely so that this didn't happen again. I called Amity Woods on Monday (I dropped her off on a Friday) to check on her and let them know their cameras were down for the large dog yards. She had seen the vet due to an incontinence issue so I had asked them to check her for a bladder infection or UTI since this was new. The tech informed me that they found nothing so they started her on estrogen. I called them several times through the week to check on Zuri and was told that she was fine. I then received a call on Friday from a staff member on the Lodge side of the business and was informed that Zuri had some "hot spots" on her elbows and that her front leg was bothering her so the staff member told me that they were having a vet tech look at her. I requested a vet to check her. I received a call back from a vet tech saying that the vet checked her out and felt that she just sprained her ankle playing in the yard and had given her an inflammatory. I asked about the "hot spots" and was told she did not have any that they were just callouses (which was new because she didn't have then when she arrived at the Lodge). The vet tech did say she told the staff to put more bedding in her kennel. I didn't have a good feeling so Saturday morning I called Amity Woods to let them know I was sending my sister over to pick Zuri up. They said okay. I received a call a few minutes later stating that they did want to let me know that Zuri was not feeling well and would not go out with the other dogs. I asked for a vet to see her. Her front leg and back leg were now very swollen. I asked about an allergic reaction to the new meds they had her on and the tech asked me "what new meds". They didn't even know what meds she was on! I informed her that they were the meds that THEY put her on but it was not in her notes or chart. Fast forward a few hours and my sister had to take Zuri to Blue Pearl Emergency Care where she was transferred to Overland Park to see a Internal Medicine Doctor. Zuri was in the ICU for a week! She had gotten the infection DURING HER STAY AT AMITY WOODS. The doctor said a bacteria had entered the sores (that I was told she didn't have) on her elbows. Her paws ruptured under the pressure of the swelling and a surgeon had to manage this part of her care. Over $7,500 later, plus our $750+ stay at Amity Woods and Zuri is okay but has scars that she will have forever. We asked Amity Woods to cover her medical expenses and we have been referred to their insurance company who is about as responsive as a dead person. Summary DO NOT TRUST AMITY WOODS WITH YOUR PETS!

My wife always want the presidential suite. I think it was more than the resort we stayed at. It was expensive. We like the place. We use them every time.

We've been going there for years and we like them a lot. They're very friendly, they know the dog really well. They do grooming there, and boarding every now and then. They're nice and they are close by the house.

They're friendly. I have a couple of animals that don't like to go to the vet, and even though they don't like to go there, all of the people there are still very caring towards the animals.

insisted on extra immunizations for my dogs so that I could groom and/or board them, beyond what most vets required.    Instructed me to keep treating for an infection (that was without symptoms) that my dogs got from eating deer feces in the yard.  Wanted to keep testing and retreating.  Seemed to be in it for the money.

While at doggie daycare, the dogs get walked four times a day. The dogs have outside yard time. They have a pet portal that for an extra fee allows you video access to your dog to see how it is doing. I am very impressed with them. If your dog is not feeling well, they have the vet do a courtesy check to make sure it is OK. They are a little pricey, but they are very professional. I will continue to use them in the future.

DR. JONES IS A GREAT VET. VERY GOOD PET-SIDE MANNER. UNDERSTANDS THAT OUR PETS ARE OUR BABIES, TOO. HE THOROUGHLY EXPLAINS WHAT OPTIONS ARE, AND HIS RECOMMENDATIONS. MY DOG HAD TO DO A FULL SEASON OF WEEKLY SHOTS. FUNNY ENOUGH, HE LOVED GOING TO THE VET. ALTHOUGH A BIT EXPENSIVE, I KNOW I AM GETTING PROPER ATTENTION AND GOOD CARE FOR BOTH ANIMALS. HIS VET TECHS ARE VERY GOOD WITH ANIMALS, TOO.
