"Thank you. I'm glad our services met, or exceeded, your expectations."
"Thank you. I'm glad we could be of service."
When setting up a date for an estimate, I'd emailed them that I'd be home all day on a certain day and it would be a good day. They emailed back to confirm but I was having computer problems and didn't get the message. They went the extra step of calling to confirm when they didn't hear from me. I appreciated that.
They were right on time the day of the service, got right to work sweeping up anything that was on the floor, cautioning me the garage floor was slippery when some water got on it, and worked steadily to clean the floor. They even swept up the basement steps. They were also very polite. The basement floor looks 100% better and I'm very particular. I lent them a big dustpan and couldn't find it after they left. The office was quite responsive in checking with the workers to see what happened to it, even offering to buy a new one for me. However, it was my mistake--I did find it clipped to a broom. (The last place I'd look.)
Bottom line--I've used AAS twice and both times I've been more than happy with their work and price. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again and would recommend them.
We also talked to the office staff several times. Everything was to our satisfaction and they were all very courteous and nice on the phone.
If we ever have any problems again (which I hope we don't) we will definitely use this company. I would really recommend them to anyone needing their type of services.
"Our company specializes primarily in Insurance losses and repairs. Please undersatnd we are required to use an estimating program designed for and approved by the insurance industry. I agree it is somewhat difficult to understand and is at the least confusing. The repairs to this home was done well and completed on time. The one line item estimated at the first vistit to the home was for an electrician to repair and electrical problem, a light would not work. One of our trained production managers was able to fix the problem without the need to call the electrician. I agreed with the homeowner that no electrican was needed however we thought we should be paid for the work our employee had done to get the problem corrected. We were told we would not. The way the estimating program is set up, some line items are not adequate to cover our expense to get a workman, vehicle and equipment to the job sight for the square foot, linear foot or single item price allowed. The insurance industry understands this and approved the designer of the program to install a "Base Service Charge" to allow for the money needed to warrant the trip. The insurance company understands there must a minimum charge for some small services i.e. you can not be called to a job sight to repair a light and be paid in a line item $7.50 when in actuality it costs the contractor $100.00 to mobilize a repair man to do the small repair; thus the reason for the Base Service Charge. Addressing the 10% overhead and 10% profit issue. Again we didn't design the program we just work within it. This simply means we are allowed 10% of the line items to cover our overhead (industry wide the actual average OH is about 32%) and another 10% to allow us a reasonable profit. I know this looks like we receive 20% for doing the repairs, not so, if calculated it actually computed to 18%. We repair approximately 400 homes a year, we strive to get an excellent rating on 100% of our work.We send out a Quality Repair Survey after we complete every job, we want to know how we did. We do not get them all returned to us. Computing the ones we do get back, we average a 97% excellency rating. We work very hard to resolve all disagreements and answer all questions honestly and promptly. In this matter we did not charge for the electrical repair we made and deleted the line item for the electrician in the estimate. Our overhead did not change because an electrician did not go to the job; however, the OH and Profit was also deducted for the electrican line item. We attempted to explain all of this to the homeowner, obviously not successfully. I feel bad about this, we have had continuing education classes for our staff as well as insurance company and independent adjusters,at our shop; they too have difficulty with all this program contains. Our goal is to be the best restoration contractor in the metro area; we are open, honest and fair to everyone we work for and with. Are we perfect? No, but we will give you all we have."
