They did an excellent job. It was a fair price, took care of it in a timely fashion and we are happy with it. They had good attitude, great service and cleaned up very well. There was no mess left behind. I think when you are having somebody who is doing a remodeling project and it is all cleaned up and you can't even know that they were here it is a good thing.

We called several different roofers/contractors to get bids for this job. We knew that there were going to be some issues with the decking material on the roof because it was in disrepair when we purchased the property. The estimate that we received from Monte was higher than every other estimate but we chose it because he was the only contractor who allowed for replacement material in the price and we didn't want to be surprised with extra costs if another contractor ran into problems and had to replace decking material.
They showed up early one morning and woke me up because they were banging around on the roof. It sounded like a herd of elephants on my roof; not a problem but it would have been nice to know they were there before the whole crew piled on my house. They had plenty of hands and tore everything off within a couple of hours. They then began replacing bad deck material. Unfortunately, they decided to use second hand material, from what looked like the side of a box trailer, in the holes that they patched. I don't mind recycling but when I paid for new material to be put in the roof, that is what I expected and certainly not what I got.
They did use a good material on the flatter part of the roof and good 25 year shingles on the rest of the roof but, again, we have had more issues with leaks since we have had the new roof installed than we ever did before. We have a waterfall in the laundry room everytime it rains and we cannot get them to even come out and look at the problem. It has leaked ever since about 3 months after the material was put in and the material is peeling up around the edges of the roof everywhere because it wasn't installed properly. They took off the flashing around our chimney and didn't replace it until we called them 2 weeks later because we had a waterfall in the living room during a rainstorm. They also knocked several pieces of facia off the house and we had to hound them to replace the pieces. The final problem that we had was their lack of cleanliness. They didn't clean up immediately after they were finished and we had to call them to come back because of all the nails left in our yard and driveway. At the same time that we had them come back and clean up we also had to have them install the vents in the roof that they forgot to put in when they were there.
Overall, we were really disappointed with their work, materials, and service after the fact.

I was satisfied with the price but more importantly they came out and did the job in a timely matter. They cleaned up their mess and I thought they did a pretty thorough job. He was a lower price but we heard he was pretty good and he was.

  • Work started weeks later than promised.
  • Half of the roof was completed then the other half waited for the roofers return more than a week.
  • New shingles and new copper flashing were put over rotten decking. This was corrected when we caught it.
  • The work area was to be tarped, it was not and they were messy.
  • Someone (roofer says painter/painter says roofer) destroyed not one but TWO basement windows.
  • Bid price increased, part of this was due to a mis-estimate of copper amount and/or price; even though copper was quoted.
Our roof looks great - we still need paint, are out 75% of the cost plus the windows - but I would caution anyone entering into a contract. Get every single thing in writing, even the small stuff. Check the work as it is in progress, that is how we caught the rotten decking.

In Joplin today it is difficult with all the work needing to be done to get the exact roofer or assistance that you want. So, when you have make a "second" choice because the first is swamped it is difficult...

In 2009 we had several bids and they ranged from 15000 to 9200. Monty had the lower bid and did a first rate job. He removed everything from the roof, redecked it and put 3 tab shingles on. Our problem was that we didn't have funds to do all the roof, but it was leaking. He came and worked within out budget and got all the leaks fixed and the roof looked great! the clean up was excellant because first that is a dirty job on a redeck. We just couldn't have asked for a better job.
