Proceed with caution This company is deceptive. They lead you to believe they have their own equipment and that certain items discussed for the project are included in the price of the scope of work. This allows them to leave the contract very vague. Then when it is time to do the work they say it is not included in the contract and charge additional money to do it. What is also VERY concerning is that when they are questioned about timing and/or the progress of the work they become defensive and combative. If you choose to work with them, absolutely 100% do NOT take them at their word, make sure to be very specific in your contract: Require a timeline for completion of work Require an itemized contract that includes photos for each item Require all items be itemized by cost Require that the equipment for the project is listed in the contract Require that they finish one item before moving on to another Require a waiver of release of lien after each item is complete Only pay a half deposit upfront and only after the equipment is delivered and pay the remainder when ALL the work is complete (include this and all items in the contract). If you give them progress payments throughout the project they will not complete the work. They do just enough work to get as much money as possible and then they do not complete the job. NOTE: Natalie and Justin have a provision in the contract that states they have the right to quit the project at any time for any reason make sure this is worded to protect you as well. Be ware that Attalie also uses mechanics liens language in conversation as a scare tactic. Do not leave any room for ambiguity because they will twist the truth and lie in order to squeeze more money out of you and then literally not complete the work. Remember you are still the customer and without customers they do not have a business. Also see BBB for complaints
Response from Earthworks by Justin
"We feel that the comments in this review are highly inaccurate. Our contracts are clear, everything was expressed in written communications, and we are happy to do extra work for agreed on prices. Both parties agree and sign to a price before work and extra work begin. We do own our own equipment, and of course rent certain pieces of machinery when the need arises. Other than down payments, we ask for progress payments only for work that has been completed. We are sorry that even given multiple options, we could not come to an agreement on the extra work at your property."

We hired Justin to put a 2-acre pond in. Was given a quote. Was told the project would take about 4 days to complete. After all discussion on size and expectations, we were left with unfinished work. They refused to put what acreage was agreed upon in the contract. Just stated verbally that what was talked about was what we would get. After a month of 3-4 day workdays that consisted of 2 hr days, Justin was confronted on what was going on with progress. His answer to everything was â I have a plan. All said and done he did not finish the job and loaded up and left. Per the contract, the payment was half down on day 1 and the total at end of the job. They kept asking for progress payments after maybe 4hrs of work. We finally told them they would get paid when the job was finished. They immediately left the job and had their equipment picked up 2 days later. They did not level the pond bank. Therefore one side of the dam is 5 feet from the waterline while the other end is currently overflowing. There were to be 2 overflow pipes put in. Justin cut in for the pipes and had one in place at the time of discussion for completing the project. He got mad and loaded the second pipe on his trailer and did not bury the first pipe and left. When told they would not be paid until the job was finished they threatened to put a mechanics lien on our property. They use scare tactics to try to get your money before the job is done. I hope you read all reviews and do your research on this company. They have not been in business for 30 years as advertised. Justin is only 40! And if you read carefully he states he got into this industry in 1999. Which is only 23 years. If he is trying to convey it is family business, he is the sole operator. False advertisement, overpriced, terrible communication and customer service.
Response from Earthworks by Justin
"We have 30 years experience, the company is not 30 years old. The experience is what we advertise. We also have texts stating "I know we didn't actually agree on 2 acres".... So when threatened multiple times, yes, we left the property. The job is finished, and Earthworks is still owned a large sum of money per the working contract."

We had a very negative experience with Earthworks by Justin. We contracted with him to deliver clean topsoil and backfill along both sides of our driveway. We discussed that we wanted clean topsoil both verbally and in writing via text. The dirt that Justin delivered is full of large and small rocks which we are currently in the process of trying to clean out. When Justin spread the dirt he said he was unable to complete spreading on one side due to the dirt being too wet. He promised to return in a few days to complete the work. This was November 23, 2021. It is now March 2022 and he still has not returned to finish the job. We have initiated constant inquiries as to when he will be able to complete this job. We have been promised numerous times and given numerous dates that he would be here, but he never shows up nor does he make contact to let us know he won?t be here or to reschedule. In fact, no communication has initiated from them since we first contracted with them. They do respond to our attempts to communicate with repeated promises to return and repeated excuses for not coming back to complete the job. Unfortunately, we took Justin at his word and paid him in full in November when he promised to return to complete the job in a few days. We have had communication with some other customers of Justin?s who are experiencing similar issues with this company. We are beyond frustrated and would just like to get this job completed.

Extremely overpriced and had the lowest quality of rock I have ever seen anyone put on a driveway.
Response from Earthworks by Justin
"Hi Vance, we're sorry you are not satisfied with your driveway now. You seemed happy with the price and work the day we did it, as you were there for the job, and also accepted our estimate before we worked you into the schedule. We wish you would have contacted us if something came up you were not satisfied with. As for the quality of rock, we have our rock delivered by trucking services that pick up loads at the local quarry. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to improve your satisfaction with the job."

After two weeks of not even getting return phone calls from several local contractors, we finally rented a tractor and began our pool enlargement. After the basics were done we again started calling and were given the number for Earthworks. The owner, Justin, called back quickly and was at our home in about an hour! Two hours later the spot is ready for topping of sand and the pool! Polite, professional, and knowledgeable. We will be calling him again and again!

"Thank you! We appreciate your business!"

We used earthworks for adjustments to our drainage ditch, erosion control for one back pasture into repair landscaping from placement of a conduit pipe. They were quick to respond, quick to give a quote, fair priced, and did great work.
Response from Earthworks by Justin
"Thank you Michael and Jana! Super nice customers - we will be back to seed the dirt soon."

They arrived on time as promised. They were courteous. I thought that they were a little over priced. But if the driveway holds up, I may feel differently on that.
