I walked in and asked if they could do it without an appointment. They said they could, but it would be a couple of hours and offered to drive me home (I lived close by, but it was cold and raining) and pick me up later when it was finished. They said the driver was out on a run and would be back in about 10 minutes, and asked me to wait in the lobby. I sat in the lobby for 10 minutes...and then 20 minutes...and then I went and asked the woman up front when the driver would be back. She didn't know and had to ask someone else, who told us it would be about 30 minutes because he just left. Without me! Thanks. I ended up just walking home in the freezing rain. I called 2 hours later and my car still hadn't been inspected. I told them to come pick me up and i it's not done by the time they get me back there, I'll just pick up my car and go somewhere else. It took them another 40 minutes to come get me, but my car was done by the time I got back to the shop. They didn't even apologize or give me a discount for my trouble. If you need an inspection, they do just as well as anywhere else. I use them for quick things like inspections because they're close to where I live, but I don't think I'll use them for anything major and will probably have my regular mechanic do my inspections from now on. They know me there and take much better care of me.

Very comfy waiting area which is good because they don't set appointments, first come first served wait in line.

Very smooth. I went in at 7 in the morning with a flat tire on the left rear driver side of my car. I knew I would have to replace a pair of tires. Total cost was in line with what I expected. They gave me a ride to work and told me that they would be done around 10. I got a ride to work and arranged to be picked up at 11:15. The ride was there on time and I was able to get there and back to work in a  timely manner. They were very professional, courteous and prompt. It was what I needed when I needed my car fixed quickly.

Express Lane is the name of the business part of Machen's Ford that changes oil, does tire rotations, etc. Everyone is very friendly and the service is performed promptly. There is a really nice waiting area where drinks are provided, free of change, and some snacks. It's a nice place to wait while have your car serviced.
