Empire Basement Solutions

We had our basement finished by Empire about a year ago and we still love and are greatly enjoying the space. The process was much easier than we expected and the workmanship was really good. We experienced great communication and follow-up from our project manager and everything came out on budget and within the expected time frame. The carpentry work was exceptional! Whenever we had a question, we received a response back quickly, and it was generally easy to determine where we were at on the project via the website/app and when work would be completed and people would be at the house. We encountered only one issue on the floor install in which the incorrect flooring was provided and installed, but they were quick to resolve the issue and get the project back on track. We were all really happy with the end result. Everyone that worked on the project was respectful and informative, provided suggestions that made the end result really nice and overall did great work. All work performed passed required inspections, appropriate permits were obtained and posted, and we haven't had any issues this past year with anything that was installed. We will definitely hire again for future projects!

Poor project management with lack of consistent communication. Quality of workmanship was less than expected and several contractors had to return to fix initial work. Project was delayed several times over 4-1/2 months and wasn't fully complete until 45 days beyond original finish date listed in the contract. Owner was only interested in payment and did not prioritize customer satisfaction. So many things went wrong on this job that I wouldn't even know where to begin. Hopefully, the project manager and the owner learned something from the many mistakes they made on our job and won't repeat on future projects. Overall, our experience was disappointing and not worth the trouble or cost incurred. I would not hire them again nor recommend their services to other homeowners.

We are three months in and just now approaching the halfway point. Out of the 12 weeks, they have worked maybe three or four weeks. I hired Empire because the cost was in the middle of the four companies I interviewed and they were professional. All professionalism disappeared once the contract was signed. I have asked for copies of the contract and still don''t have it. Empire misled me on the payment schedule so unfortunately I have paid the full price tag. I could go into much detail about the issues but won't at this point as we are pursuing legal action, not just for the issues we've faced, but for damage they have done to our property. There are many reputable companies out there and I encourage to to look elsewhere for remodeling.
