Was done in a very timely fashion. Dan the Radon man was knowledgeable, kept the work area neat and tidy and came back at the stated time to retrieve test and mail it in. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. Would definitely use again should the need arise!

My experience with Dan was one of the standouts of 2013. We purchased a house in early 2012 -- a very long ranch. Radon tests came back above the federal guidelines. Dan came out, looked at the basement and foundation, and quoted a fixed price, and installed a fan and pipe, unobtrusively in the basement. The realtor, who had offered up several other contacts, told me that Dan's price was very reasonable. A second test showed a reduction, but not below the federal guidelines. So Dan installed a higher-powered fan. A third test, and no dice. We moved on to replacing some corroded floor drains -- yielding another small reduction, but still above the magic number. At this point, I started telling Dan that I would understand if "changed circumstances" required him to charge me more for the services. But he refused, insisting that we stick to the original arrangement! It took another couple of trips to sort things out; our best guess was that the foundation has some kind of unique footing structure, so that the fan on one end could reach the testing area. The final solution was a second mitigation fan at the opposite end of the house. I may have been the last person that Dan ever quotes a flat fee to, but I was extremely impressed by his dedication and integrity. He made a promise, and doggedly kept at it until the promise was fulfilled. I don't anticipate needing more radon mitigation any time soon, but I highly recommend Dan.

All went perfectly! I called Dan based on reviews I had read on Angie's List. On the phone he asked a few questions about the set up of my home and then he was able to provide me with an install date just a few days away, along with a quote of $650. He showed up on time, walked around my home and the perimeter of the house to explain what work he would be perfoming. It did an incredibly thorough job of not only installing my system, but also sealing some cracks in my basement floor and advising us on some wiring that he felt was out of code in our basement bathroom area. I felt he really went above and beyond and the price he quoted on the phone is the one he charged for all the work he did. After leaving a testing canister, he also following up in 3 days to pick it up and our results showed that the radon level dropped from 6 to 2.9 (anything less than 4 is acceptable according to the industry standards)...so all was successful.
I would definitely recommend Dad to anyone looking to install a radon mediation system in their home.

It was great. On the phone you could tell this was his specialty and it is all he does. He explained when her came exactly what he would do and why. He installed it exactly as he said and it worked as promised. I never felt that my house and my problem was not a priority for him and not one of the 300 he does a year. He really was amazing. Many places tell you a range. For Dan it is the same price regardless of the job, which makes the entire experience easier.
He did tell he that because I had sealed the cracks in the basement I probably could have resolved my radon problem by simply sealing the sump-pump cover. But, because I had already had it tested by law I had to get a certified specialist like him to fix it.
Just a suggestion to other home owners before you get tested. Seal all the cracks in the slab in the basement, seal the sump-pump cover, and then invite a tester over to verify the levels. You just might solve your problem that way.
