Atlantis Drainage Solutions

Concrete Flatwork - Repair & Resurface, Poured Concrete Wall - Install, Concrete Foundation - Install,

About us

Atlantis Drainage Solutions was incorporated in 1997. The President, Ken Banks, was previously employed with a local foundation repair company for 6 1/2 years before starting his own company. It was his belief based on personal experience, as well as professional engineer statements, that the majority (85%) of wet basements could be made dry or maintained dry by improving and managing the water run-off (drainage) around the structure. Therefore our motto became, We Correct the Cause Not the Symptom!

They did good work. However, they promised to set me up with an electrician to do the electrical connections. They never did despite my repeated calls. Once they got paid they lost interest and did not follow up.

It was a three day job. From initial contact to job completion was right around two months. Brad was very courteous in our correspondence. Response time was a little slow, but given the heavy rains in August this part was understandable. I would definitely work with them in the future if the need arose.

Brad Keller, the owner of Atlantis Drain Solutions, came out to look at the job. We expressed our concerns that water was getting into our basement. He suggested this duel system with great confidence. He assured us that it should resolve the problem. We told Brad that we would like decorative rock to cover the drain system, but he recommended grass instead. He said they had had good results with the grass. We had our concerns due to the amount of water coming down the surface and the incline, but we concurred with his recommendation; him being the expert. I remember his last words, “I’m going to do a good job for you.” Brad’s recommendation of grass instead of decorative rock turned out to be a bad idea. All the top soil and seed they put down washed away when we had the spring rain. I would think an “expert” would know better! So, what we ended up with was a big muddy mess with no grass, and a lot of mud in the drainage system that I had to clean out myself. Yes, I had to do it because my husband is in a wheelchair and couldn’t. We called Brad out to look at the mess. We expected him to take SOME responsibility, but he took none! On the contrary, when my husband stated that we had originally asked for rock, Brad was sarcastic and said in a snarky way, “I guess I should have listened to you!” Then he said he was trying to save us money! He said he would fix the mess (his mess by the way) and sent us another proposal for an additional $795.00! How is that saving us money?? Oh, by the way… did I mention that we still have water getting in our basement? When my husband mentioned this in an email, Brad didn’t even respond. That’s right. No response whatsoever. I had hoped that ADS would feel some responsibility to make this right, but they don’t. I even told Brad when he came out that we would pay them an additional $500.00 to fix the mess (More than the cost of rock, by the way), but he declined. Instead we received his new proposal for $795.00. So… I purchased 23 bags of decorative rock (total cost $307.89) from Home Depot. I will have to remove the remainder of dirt left behind, fill in some of the areas with more fabric (which we have on hand), and put the decorative rock down myself. My husband can’t help me, bless his heart, but I’m sure he will be there for moral support. I have included photos for a clearer explanation. Conclusion: It truly disturbs me that a company so highly acclaimed by Angie’s List would be negligent in any way. When I read the small print on the ADS proposal, I see clearly that they really do not “guarantee” anything. So, I wish others better luck than we had.

We had to have some other work redone by somebody else so I wasn't happy. I thought they were a little high. They were very nice to deal with and they were on time.

I was worried about the yard being torn up but they were great. They cut the sod out for the area where the drain was to go and replaced it. After watering for a week you couldn't hardly tell where the work was done. The men doing the work were very nice. Within 4 or 5 days of having the drain installed the area is dry. Thank you for giving me back the part of my yard that had been soaked for over a year.

This is the third time we have used this company for basement leaks.  Previously they had worked on the crack in the walls with resultant leaks with heavy rains.  Brad the owner inspected the job and submitted a fair offer.  He was also willing to redue previous work they had done five years earlier.  We were scheduled out about 2 months and a check for 1/2 the job was written.  At about the time of the proposed start of the job, I spoke with Scott who was responsible for scheduling.  He stated that he wanted to keep the guys working outside and that he would schedule us for a rainy day.  A month passed and no rainy days at least when we were available.  Meanwhile, everything had been moved around the basement making room for their work.  Finally after speaking with Brad and insisting on a definite date, he came through and the date was set 5 days later.  To Scott's credit, he apologized for the delay and stated that he would not be scheduling again for any rainy days for inside jobs.  Everyone would be given a specific start date.  The job was completed in a little over a day.  Excellent work, cleanup and punctuality.

Scott was great about coming out (twice) to consult with me about the scope of the work. He kept me updated a few weeks out from the project, then called a few times before the work started to let me know that we were still on schedule. He would tell me when he was going to call me, then he would actually do it! Wow, how often does that happen? We had a little communication gap the morning he came but in fairness he did try to call me that morning and my phone is programmed to not ring that early. It turned out to be fine and everyone was very polite (with the exception of some grumpiness on my part initially).
The two men that were working this job were very polite and conscientious and seemed very knowledgable. They cared about what they were doing and wanted to do it right. They added the new window well at my request once they got on the job and then decided that it needed to be a larger one than the one they brought out and came back the next day to put that in.
Having foundation work done is never fun and can be stressful when you have water coming in your basement. These guys made it about as good an experience as it could be. Not a fun way to spend money but at least I felt like I was in good hands.
I gave them a B on the price but I'm not sure if it is a good price or not. The reality is that no one wants to spend money on stuff like foundation work and maybe the price rating should have been an "A".  I got one other bid and it was a tad lower but the other guy was so abrasive that I decided that I didn't want him in my home. Both companies had a good reputation but If I am going to give someone my hard-earned money, I want it to be to someone nice! I would highly recommend Atlantis Drainage!

They added a cleanout in two places to facilitate keeping the drains clear of leaves, etc. Very well engineered and the work was performed in the time frame promised.

First day they moved furniture, pulled back carpet and pad, put up plastic to contain as much dust as possible, jackhammered floor. The next day they installed drainage system & sump pump, then poured concrete. Very labor intensive--jackhammered concrete had to be hauled up stairs to a loader in garage and then moved to truck for disposal. New gravel had to be carried downstairs, along with membrane, plastic tubing and concrete. They came back on the following Monday and layed carpet pad & carpet in place and moved furniture back in place. Workers were very polite and efficient.

Contractor did not show up on the commitment date blaming the weather which was fine.  However, I could not get them to communicate reliably on when they thought they would show up.  That was a little disappointing; but, understandable.  The worst thing about it was that they chewed up my sprinklers.  They didn't work correctly and I had to have a sprinkler contractor come out and fix them.  They would not stay and fix them nor did they tell me up front there would be problems with the sprinklers.

Brad provided a timely and responsive price quote and his team did an excellent job with much care and attentiveness to detail. We felt extremely comfortable with the crew and really appreciated how hard they worked and how much pride they took in completing the job. Would highly recommend Atlantis Drainage Solutions for those who need drainage assistance.

A two man crew came to the house at the scheduled time of the appointment.  They installed both drains as outlined in the original bid.  The installation seemed professional, eliminating several above ground pipes that extended  between 4 and 6 feet into the back and side yards.  The installation was a decided visual improvement.
