A-BILL GLASS CO

They were far in setting the appt! I was worried my girl would get a ticket for a damaged windshield so we needed to get it fixed fast but didn't have a lot of money or ideas whom to call! Kim (front desk) was wonderful! Customer service was FANTABULOUS!

I had hesitated to try A-Bill Glass again, because the last time we left them a window to get it fixed, they forgot to call us when it was ready. But another, big-chain glass company had made excuses on why they were refusing to help us, so we went back to A-Bill Glass. I pulled up into their parking log about 15 minutes before they opened...and just sat there, patiently. They came out and told me it was okay to bother them early, since they were there, which was nice. I pulled the window out of my car. They took it inside and measured the pane. They said I wouldn't have to leave the window with them. They'd order the glass and I'd just have to return in a week with the window and they'd replace the glass while I waited. That was fantastic, because I didn't really like the security-risk of having a window out, with the opening only covered by a sheet of plastic and some duct tape. They quoted me $66 and one week until they'd have the glass. That was on a Friday. They called me the Monday AFTER the following Friday, which was fine by me. One day after the original deadline isn't bad. But the caller started off by saying "We haven't already called you to let you know we have the glass in yet, have we?" So, evidently, a few years after we last used them, they still don't have a firm process in-place for tracking whether or not they've called you. I had to chuckle. But, be warned about that. I removed the window yesterday morning and went off to work. My wife got off of work early and took the window over to them. She waited for quite a while, she says, before she finally said she was going to run off and do some things and come back later. She returned about 30-45 minutes after that and the window was ready. I knocked them down a notch (to a "B") on quality, because, was I was installing the window, the glue failed to hold the top of the frame in-place on the right side. What happened was, this window sits on the top of the frame. Its "sister" window sits on the bottom. And basically, the one window slid down quickly to the bottom so that it rubbed against the first window and things got especially "tight" when the tops of both windows were next to each other. This loosened that corner. At one point, that corner then got a bit stuck in the upper part of the frame, causing that corner to separate even more. So, rather than deal with taking it in for repair again and covering up my empty window with plastic again... I just took it out and whacked the corner with my hand a couple of times. Still, you could tell that that glue should have done a better job of holding. Perhaps it needed more of a "cure time". I got it installed and everything's fine now. And I'm glad that SOMEBODY was able to help me on this. I'll definitely go to A-Bill glass again. They'll be my FIRST call, in the future.

Service was arranged by my insurance company when a rock hit my windshield and cracked it. The price I paid was my insurance deductible, so I'm not sure what the total cost was. I suspect their pricing is good or the insurance company probably wouldn't use them. A-Bill sent installers to my work location the next day and replaced the windshield there so I didn't have to miss work, which was greatly appreciated. The only negative was that they left lots of scrap rubber in my car from the seal around the old windshield they removed. I felt they could have cleaned up better since these were large pieces that could have been picked up by hand (didn't need to vacuum). But that's a minor problem.
